(July 17, 2023; Buellton, Calif.)—Santa Barbara County’s Alma Rosa Winery will host its fourth annual Peace of Mind: 10,000 Steps in the Right Direction fundraising walk on the morning of Saturday, July 22, 2023, at its estate in the heart of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. Originally conceived by Alma Rosa’s proprietors Bob and Barb Zorich and General Manager Debra Eagle to support community services for mental health, research and treatment for anxiety and depression, the winery’s Peace of Mind fundraising campaign has raised $545,000 over the last three years for two organizations, One Mind and the Mental Wellness Center in Santa Barbara.

“We look forward to welcoming guests to our estate for our fourth annual fundraising walk,” says General Manager Debra Eagle. “As anxiety and depression continue to affect our community, we hope the funds raised will lead to improved outcomes in advocacy, research and treatment for individuals who are experiencing mental illness. We are grateful to be a part of the solution by raising funds for these critical organizations.”

The walk will feature varied terrain and sweeping views of the Alma Rosa estate vineyards over the 10,000-step journey (4.5 miles.) To participate, interested individuals may visit the event’s website to register for the walk, view leaderboards or make personal donations to a beneficiary of their choice. The registration fee to participate in this year’s event is $55 per person, which is automatically split between the two organizations. Online registration will close on Friday, July 21 at 5 p.m., and event check-in will begin on Saturday, July 22 at 8 a.m. Onsite parking will be available at 7250 Santa Rosa Road, Buellton, CA. Complimentary coffee and pastries will be provided by Solvang’s Good Seed Coffee Boutique and Santa Ynez’ Pony Espresso. The walk is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and will last approximately two hours. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a glass of sparkling wine and non-alcoholic refreshments at the top of the estate.

Following the walk, the winery will host an intimate reception at its historic Ranch House, featuring cheese and charcuterie and the latest releases from Alma Rosa’s Winemaker Samra Morris, as well as from the nearby Santa Ynez Valley’s Brave & Maiden Estate. Additional refreshments and snacks will be provided by sponsors including Kate’s Real FoodLiquid I.V.Culture Pop Soda, and Leisure Project. Alma Rosa will also host a three-course private luncheon catered by First & Oak at the estate from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. with special guests Brandon Staglin, President of One Mind, and Annmarie Cameron, Chief Executive Officer of the Mental Wellness Center in Santa Barbara. Tickets to attend are $250 per person and all proceeds from the luncheon will be directed towards the Mental Wellness Center and One Mind. Limited seats are available for purchase here.

This year, to amplify the efforts of the event, the Zorichs will be matching individual donations dollar-for-dollar up to $35,000 for each organization, for a total of up to $70,000. The Zorichs have also announced a dollar-for-dollar matching incentive for corporate sponsors up to $25,000, and are grateful to have already received generous donations from Rio Vista Chevrolet in Buellton, Creating ConnectionsMontecito Bank & TrustMullen & Henzell L.L.P.Acme HospitalitySeaVees and SCI Specialty Construction.

About Alma Rosa Winery

Alma Rosa Winery, a leading wine producer from Santa Barbara County’s Sta. Rita Hills, is dedicated to making Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines that express the unique terroir of the appellation. Alma Rosa’s wines are layered, vibrant and balanced, reflecting the cool climate impact of the Pacific Ocean breezes that are funneled through the east-west transverse mountain range of the region. The winery was founded in 2005 by Richard Sanford, who was the first to plant Pinot Noir in the Sta. Rita Hills in 1971. Today the winery is owned by Bob and Barb Zorich, who purchased the winery in 2014. In 2019 Samra Morris took the helm as winemaker, becoming the first Bosnian American winemaker in California.
