Re-Wine Program Now Available At New York City, Hudson Valley, Chicago, And New St. Louis Location In Addition To Grand Central Terminal

New York, NY (April 2023) In celebration of Earth Month, City Winery will be expanding their unprecedented reusable wine bottle program, Re-Wine, into four new locations. Customers of these destinations will now too be able to take wine-to-go, return the bottle to be washed and sanitized, and then receive a $5 credit towards their next bottle. The Re-Wine program will be available at New York City Pier 57, Hudson Valley, Chicago and the new St. Louis location in addition to Grand Central Terminal with more locations to follow.

By utilizing their direct-to-consumer venues, City Winery is paving the path to become the most environmentally efficient winery in the world. Since first opening in 2008, City Winery has developed a unique network of winemaking with distribution in stainless steel kegs and into tap bars for direct sale to consumers by the glass. With the growler exchange program, City Winery is able to offer customers an on-the-go bottle of wine and eliminate the burning energy of shipping heavy glass bottles and corks. The only carbon emissions City Winery creates is during their annual grape delivery, and trees are purchased and planted to offset. City Winery prioritizes their ultra-efficient sanitization systems to provide a newly filled and legally encapsulated growler to customers. This cycle allows for the most efficient system of vessel exchange, burning the least energy for the enjoyment of wine.

“While we continue to build the brand we are always looking to where we can be making a difference and expanding the growler exchange program does just that,” said Michael Dorf, City Winery Founder and CEO. “More customers will now be able to enjoy wine at home or off-premise anywhere knowing they are enjoying delicious wine in the most environmentally sensitive manner possible.”

“Currently, City Winery sells an average of 6,500 glasses of wine every night from our tap systems,” adds Dorf. “We anticipate that growing to 15,000 glasses a night from additional locations in the next few years, and believe our growlers will be a popular take home option.”

City Winery’s main wine production facility is located just north of New York City on the Wallkill River, where the company is restoring the old Montgomery Mills hydroelectric dam to provide 100% of the electricity used on-premise.

Growlers can be filled with nine varieties of wine including Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling in a 750ml bottle. City Winery Grand Central Terminal also offers a 375ml to-go bottle.
