(Feb. 22, 2023; Sonoma, Calif.)—Sonoma-based Ram’s Gate Winery, located at 28700 Arnold Drive, will host a Pinot-Noir-fueled celebration of the upcoming “Sideways” 20th anniversary and hardcover book release with its author, Rex Pickett, on March 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Ram’s Gate invites guests to enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres as well as a book talk and Q&A. VIP tickets ($200) include a private reception starting at 4:30 p.m. with Pickett, a signed copy of the book and a bottle of Ram’s Gate 2018 Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, followed by admission to the main event. General admission tickets ($125) include seats for Pickett’s talk and the opportunity to purchase a limited-edition book to be signed, as well as wine and appetizers that will be available throughout the night.
Guests in attendance will hear stories from Pickett himself about the writing of “Sideways” and its sequels, the making of the film adaptation, and will have the chance to participate in a Q&A with the author. After the book talk, Pickett will be available to sign copies of the new hardcover edition, released by Blackstone Publishing.
Both the novel and film “Sideways” were released in 2004 and are widely credited with ushering in a new wave of enthusiasm for wine tasting and culture and, of course, Pinot Noir. The film—which stars Paul Giamatti, Thomas Haden Church, Sandra Oh and Virginia Madsen—was nominated for five Academy Awards, winning one for Best Adapted Screenplay.
