About Winemaker Chris Barrett

Winemaker Chris Barrett’s passion and expertise are present in every bottle he produces. Born and raised in Sonoma County, he first learned the art of winemaking from his father in their garage. After earning his degree in biology from California State University, Chico, Chris learned the ins and outs of wine analysis and developed his skills in winemaking. He took the helm at Pezzi King Vineyards in 2008, and at the newly established St. Anne’s Crossing Winery in 2012, quickly gaining recognition for his signature fruit-forward style and production of high quality, ageable reds. During his tenure as Winemaker, Chris has won 7 Sweepstakes awards, including a rare “Double Sweepstakes” award at the 2012 Sonoma County Harvest Fair, alongside hundreds of gold medals and 90+ point ratings. Always keeping one foot in the lab and the other in the cellar, Chris maintains that “great wines really do start in the vineyard.”
