Demand for fine wine investing continues to grow as North American investors seek portfolio diversification and protection against inflation
January 23rd – Fine wine investment platform WineCap has appointed Michael Zarka as Lead Advisor for North America. Based in the U.S., Michael will help drive the firm’s vision to make wine investment more accessible to investors across the country at a time when demand for the asset is growing rapidly.
In this new role, Michael will be responsible for growing WineCap’s investor base across the US, with a particular focus on California, Texas, New York, and Chicago.
Michael was formerly a portfolio adviser in the wine sector and prior to that, an investment counsellor at Fisher Investments, where he oversaw £130 million in assets under management and managed more than 180 client portfolios.
Alexander Westgarth, CEO at WineCap, said: “We are delighted to welcome Michael to the team. His background in investment management coupled with his deep expertise in fine wine investing makes him ideally qualified to grow our footprint across the US. We’re seeing strong demand among US investors, who are increasingly seeking to diversify their investment portfolios and shelter their assets from volatile markets and the impact of inflation.”
Michael Zarka added: “I am thrilled to be joining WineCap and to be introducing the benefits of fine wine to US investors. Fine wine has been a well-recognised asset class in Europe and Asia for many years, yet it remains relatively untapped in the US. While mainstream investment markets remain highly volatile, fine wine has continued to perform strongly. I’m looking forward to sharing my knowledge with clients and making wine investing more accessible.”
Michael is a qualified Investment Adviser Representative (series 65) and he graduated as a Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance from Pamplin School of Business at the University of Portland.
Clients of WineCap can choose from five different risk level investment portfolios and benefit from technology-driven service which analyses past data to predict future trends.
