Rubesco Riserva Vigna Monticchio – Rosso di Torgiano D.O.C.G. 2017

December 5th 2022, Torgiano – Christmas and the New Year are approaching and it is time to think about gifts, the festive table and new resolutions for 2023. To enrich your special moments of conviviality with the family, evenings with friends, or simply to be on the safe side by giving great wines from a region that is the cradle of culture, traditions and unique landscapes like Umbria, Lungarotti proposes two great classics: Rubesco Riserva Vigna Monticchio – Rosso di Torgiano DOC 2017 and Aurente – Chardonnay di Torgiano DOC 2018. Two important labels from the historic Torgiano winery, whose wines have made Umbria famous throughout the world. Ideal with any menu, from the most traditional to vegetarian, from sushi to exotic dishes, they will accompany any recipe, enhancing its flavours.

Rubesco Riserva Vigna Monticchio – Rosso di Torgiano D.O.C.G. 2017

A pure Sangiovese appreciated for its extraordinary balance between power and elegance. Its colour is a brilliant ruby red and its characteristics are those typical of the people of Umbria, reserved but generous. A wine of great structure, suitable for long ageing, which is only bottled in the best vintages. In particular, the 2017 surprises with an unexpected freshness, given the difficult climatic conditions that characterised the season and the particularly low yields, revealing great balance.

Aurente – Chardonnay di Torgiano DOC 2018 is a fine, elegant wine made from pure Chardonnay grapes. A white wine with a strong, sunny temperament accompanied by an unusual freshness for a Chardonnay grown in central Italy. The peculiarities of the soil, combined with the great work of grape selection in the vineyard, make it possible to arrive at harvest with a perfect balance between sugar ripening and grape acidity, key factors that make this wine suitable for long ageing. The 2018 vintage unveils new packaging characterised by a more enveloping label and a more elegant and precious bottle.

Sips and toasts that will make the holidays a preview of your next trip to the “Belpaese”.

Lungarotti is a historic Umbrian winery founded in Torgiano by Giorgio Lungarotti and now headed by his daughters Chiara and Teresa, assisted by their mother Maria Grazia and Giorgio’s grandchildren Francesco and Gemma. Today it totals 250 hectares of vineyards situated in the Torgiano Estate (230 ha, VIVA certification since 2018) and the one in Montefalco (20 ha, organically cultivated since 2010). The viticulture practised at both wineries is based on sustainability and biodiversity with a focus on highlighting native varietals interspersed with international varietals. Between the two sites, there are 29 different labels, among which is Rubesco Riserva Vigna Monticchio – Torgiano Rosso Riserva DOCG, one of the best Italian reds, and Rubesco – Rosso di Torgiano DOC, a profound expression of Umbria.
