October 10th – Competition managers are now accepting entries for the Harvest Challenge, a wine competition like no other, in that it bases judging on a group of vineyards (or even vines) from the same region, belonging to a specific appellation and sharing the same type of soil, weather conditions and grapes that combine to give personality to the wine.

In other competitions, this factor is ignored. At the Harvest Challenge, judges taste wines with other wines of the same appellation. With cross-regional competition removed, the inherent quality of wines can be seen without the influences that sometimes eclipse even a wine of very high quality.

Judging will take place November 9-10, with winners notified by no later than November 18th, just in time for holiday wine choices. Judges will include winemakers, sommeliers, retail buyers, wine educators and journalists. There is no limit to the number of entries.

Early bird entry ends October 20. Final entry deadline is October 28. Entries must be delivered to Express Wine Delivery by 5 p.m. October 31.
