Non-Alcoholic 2021 Chenin Blanc & Reserve Red Blend Just in Time for the Holidays
Napa, CA, October 6, 2022 – On November 1, 2022 Sovi Wine Co. will introduce their bottle format with an alcohol-removed 2021 Chenin Blanc and a multi-vintage Reserve Red Blend. The most premium non-alcoholic wines in the market, Sovi uses only high-end fruit sourced from California’s Clarksburg AVA in the Sacramento River Delta. Providing a complexity that can only be accomplished through intentional vinification, the launch of Sovi Wines’ bottles advances the non-alcoholic market into more refined territory; elegant, sophisticated, and estate-grown. First crafting expressive wines, Sovi’s sommelier and WSET diploma certified team removes the alcohol through a lengthy vacuum distillation process, keeping the wine’s flavors and aromas intact.
Hailing from a single sustainably farmed vineyard, the fruit for Sovi’s 2021 Chenin Blanc (SRP $34) ripened evenly and maintained a fresh acidity. Undergoing an extended 12-month lees aging, this vintage developed complex flavors and textures. Dry and crisp, this non-alcoholic wine exudes notes of honeydew melon, pear and Meyer lemon. Beautifully textured on the palate, it pairs well with roasted turkey, winter squash soup, oysters, and dishes with cream sauces.
Finding an almost forgotten 2015 Petite Sirah aging in French and American barrels, the Sovi team blended it with young Cabernet Sauvignon to bring freshness, structure and tannin to the final multi-vintage Reserve Red (SRP $38). With no added sugar, this non-alcoholic wine is dry with notes of boysenberry, plum, cassis, and warm baking spices. On the palate, supple tannins lead to a long finish. Richly flavored and with well-developed oak aromas, the Reserve Red is an ideal companion for filet mignon, roasted leg of lamb, or mushroom risotto.
“Our customers have been asking us for bottles they can bring to a dinner party or give as a gift and the wines we are using for these two new releases are very special and unique in the non-alcoholic world,” explains Julia Littauer, Sovi’s co-owner and a certified sommelier. “Estate-grown lees-aged Chenin Blanc and barrel-aged Petite Sirah are a far cry from the sweet grape juice-like NA wines that have long been on the market. We’re leading the way on offering truly high-quality options and evolving consumers expectations when it comes to NA wines.”
The bottles of 2021 Chenin Blanc and Reserve Red join Sovi’s line-up of canned NA libations, including a brut-style 2021 Sparkling Chenin Blanc, a 100% Tempranillo 2021 Sparkling Rosé, a Red Blend of predominantly Syrah, Malbec, Petite Sirah and a sampler pack.
Yes, quality non-alcoholic wine is now a thing. Sovi Wine’s husband-wife team, Julia and Alexander Littauer, believe it’s about creating the right wines to remove the alcohol from, not compensating after the alcohol-removal process with flavors and sugars. The result is a selection of game-changing alcohol-removed wines that do not compromise on flavor or experience.
