NAPA VALLEY, Calif. (August 2022) Carneros Resort and Spa – the 28-acre luxury resort nestled in Napa Valley’s picturesque wine region of Carneros – announced a new lineup of sustainable programming experiences in time for harvest season. Further amplifying the resort’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, guests of Carneros Resort and Spa will be able to enjoy an immersive line-up of programs ranging from sustainable food and wine offerings, a hands-on harvest package at nearby green winery Cuvaison Estate Wines, a firsthand look at the eco-friendly benefits of beekeeping at the onsite apiary, plus access to exclusive events.

With Impact Travel evolving from a trend into a non-negotiable practice for discerning travelers, Carneros Resort and Spa is making a commitment to meet that demand by offering an even more diverse and impactful array of programs for its guests to enjoy. Along with the new seasonal programs, guests of Carneros Resort and Spa can take part in its robust conservation practices, which has allowed them to become a selected partner of Beyond Green, a global portfolio of hotels, resorts, and lodges that exemplify sustainable leadership.

“There’s an excitement in the air during the busy harvest season, and it’s an opportunity to highlight everything the resort and our neighbors do to conserve Napa Valley’s renowned landscape,” said Managing Director Ed Costa. “From the dozens of wineries using sustainable winegrowing techniques to the restaurants prioritizing farm-to-table fare, the region has cemented itself as a leader in eco-friendly luxury hospitality without sacrificing any of the quality.”

Hands-On Harvest

There is no better way to appreciate the wonder of harvest season than to play winemaker for a day at one of the valley’s most eco-friendly wineries. Carneros Resort and Spa’s new hands-on harvest package allows guests to experience a two-night stay in the property’s luxurious accommodations from September 23-25, an immersive introduction to Cuvaison Estate Wine’s sustainable winegrowing practices, exclusive time with one of its talented winemakers, and other fun activities.

After a guided tasting of delicious wines at Cuvaison’s scenic property in the afternoon on day one, guests will join a winemaker in the vineyard the next day to assist with picking the grapes that will produce the winery’s acclaimed product. Visitors can then admire their work as they enjoy lunch among the vines. Perfect for anyone seeking a memorable wine country trip, the package also includes a multi-course dinner with a Cuvaison team member in attendance and a picturesque hike through the vineyards.

Benefits of Beekeeping

Sourcing produce sustainably is an integral part of modern hospitality, so apitourism – tourism activities linked to beekeeping – is trending in both rural and urban areas. Carneros Resort and Spa’s All the Buzz excursion introduces guests to the ancient art of beekeeping at its on-site apiary, where the property is working on producing its own honey. Developed by the resort’s beekeeper, Rob Keller, the program includes an in depth look at the life cycle of a bee and their habitat, including the benefits of log hives, and what resort guests can do to help honeybees and other pollinators at home. The afternoon will conclude with a flavorful honey and cheese tasting paired with a glass of Napa Valley wine.

Additionally, the resort will record a “Beekeeping Today” podcast, which will feature in-depth interviews with Managing Director Ed Costa and the resort’s beekeeper Rob Keller discussing the property’s apiary and providing an overall education on the positive impacts of beekeeping.

Sipping and Dining Sustainably

To showcase Napa Valley’s celebrated sustainable culinary and wine offerings, Carneros Resort and Spa will host all-new complimentary weekly tastings for guests and locals at Market, the property’s upscale general store. The resort also offers guests the perfect Carneros itinerary and complimentary transportation to local green wineries such as Cuvaison, Etude, Saintsbury and Domaine Carneros.

Taking place Fridays from 4-5:30 p.m. during harvest season, Napa Green Wine Pour will feature curated tastings of wines from “Napa Green” certified wineries, which will change every week. These wineries are leading the way in sustainability and standards for climate action and regenerative carbon farming. Winery experts will be available to answer questions and keep the education flowing as attendees savor the delicious wine and warm weather.

On the culinary side, Artisan Tastings from 4-5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays will showcase the craft of local artisans with a seasonal tasting presented by the resort’s neighboring farms, including Flatbed Farm, Clif Family, and Hurley Farms. These tastings will highlight just a few of the incredible products available at Market, from assorted cheeses and jams to olive oil and fresh fruit.

Culinary Garden Tours

Maintaining its agriculture roots and as an extension of its existing farm-to-table program, Carneros Resort and Spa houses a culinary garden with 50 varieties of organic herbs and vegetables and fresh eggs from the resort’s chicken coop. The garden grants seamless access for the resort’s culinary team to showcase only the highest quality ingredients year-round.

The complimentary Little Green Thumb Gardening Tours allow guests of all ages to get their hands dirty and connect with nature as they explore the chicken coop – aptly named Chick-Inn – to feed chickens, visit with rabbits, tour the gardens, and learn how the resort sustainably sources its produce. As a memorable keepsake, guests will be gifted organic carrot seeds to start their own culinary garden at home.

One-of-a-Kind Napa Valley Events

Harvest season in Napa Valley inspires a variety of unforgettable events every year. On September 17, Carneros Resort and Spa will host a Pool Party featuring Moët & Chandon, transforming its Hilltop Pool into the ultimate lounge and opening it to non-guests for the first time. In addition to sweeping views of the nearby vineyards and rolling hills, the pool party will feature a selection of appetizers by Executive Chef Jeffrey Jake with produce from the resort’s culinary garden, Moët Ice Impérial and Moët Ice Impérial Rosé Champagne, local wine, beer and cocktails, and a DJ setting the mood with perfect summer songs. Tickets can be reserved online here.

Numerous prominent wineries will host events this season, including a Harvest Celebration at Chandon on September 4, Merryvale’s Annual Harvest Party on September 25, and a Crush Party on October 14 featuring an old-fashioned grape stomp at historic V. Sattui Winery.
