Freschello has been one of Italy’s top selling wines for over ten years. It is the fresh new Italian brand from Veneto-based Cielo e Terra family winery.
At 60 grams per liter residual sugar, Freschello meets consumer demand for the growing sweet wine category. Sweet wines attract new drinkers, appeal to younger drinkers and pair well with spicy foods. “Sweet and flavored wines make up more than 30% of the bottles sold in the U.S., according to NielsenIQ. Overall, sweet wine sales grew 10% over the past year, the market researcher reports, which outpaced the industry’s total growth of 5.1%.”*
Available in Bianco (Garganega, Trebbiano) and Rosso (Merlot, Sangiovese), the wines are refreshingly light and slightly sweet with lively fruit flavors. They are excellent as an aperitif or mixed into a cocktail. They are complimentary to a variety of dishes and are best served chilled.
In 2019, Freschello was enrolled in the 1% for the Planet program which is aimed at collecting funds to protect natural resources, like water, which is very crucial in winemaking. Through this organization, they donate 1% of net profits to clean water resource nonprofits. The winery is also a Certified B Corporation and supports local growers and charities in Italy.
