Newberg, Ore. winery partners with Girls Inc. PNW, a non-profit organization that encourages youth participation and leadership in science, technology, engineering and math

Newberg, Ore. (Sept. 14, 2021) – Et Fille Wines and Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest today announced the release of the 2020 STEM & root Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, a collaboration aimed at raising awareness and funds for Girls Inc. PNW’s Eureka! Program. The program is committed to inspiring, engaging and empowering eighth – 12th grade youth with the STEM skills needed to thrive in their future careers.

“After the challenging year we all faced, I wanted something good to come out of 2020 and to create a wine that could make a difference in our community,” said Jessica Mozeico, president and winemaker of Et Fille Wines. “It’s our hope that with each bottle sold, we can further support STEM education and inspire girls to pursue their passion.”

Et Fille, which means “and daughter,” is a Willamette Valley winery co-founded in 2003 by a software engineer father and biotechnology daughter who shared a passion for making wine. With their background based in STEM, the winery believes that greater access to education has the power to create a better community for all children.

“We’re so grateful to Et Fille for their support of our Eureka! programming,” said Cyreena Boston Ashby, CEO of Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest. “Without intervention, girls’ interest and confidence in STEM-related fields can begin to wane as early as elementary school.”

The 2020 STEM & root Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is a robust and layered wine with an aroma of plum, blackberry, white floral and thyme. The palate of boysenberry and mint has a bold texture, representative of the dark fruit of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA and the herbal and floral notes of the Dundee Hills. The wine retails for $24 and is available now for pre-order on the Et Fille website, with shipping slated to start September 14th.

“In Eureka!, youth engage in school year lessons and activities, field trips, summer camps, a group internship, and a solo externship,” Boston Ashby continued. “They meet role models and mentors, and develop interest and confidence in their STEM skills and abilities.”

With the purchase of 6+ bottles of STEM & root Pinot Noir, Et Fille invites customers to a ‘Behind the Science’ STEM & root Virtual Tasting on Oct. 14 with Mozeico. Et Fille will provide complimentary next day delivery to the Greater Portland Area with a 3+ bottle purchase.
