KERRVILLE, TEXAS (May 18, 2021) — Kerrville Hills Winery has been awarded a Platinum Medal at the 2021 TEXSOM International Wine Awards (IWA) for its 2019 Sémillon, Rustic Spur, Texas Hill Country. The wine was awarded this prestigious honor at the competition which was held April 25-27, 2021 at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas.

TEXSOM International Wine Awards is one of the most selective competitions in the world. The expert judges are selected for their broad experience and global perspective. The judges are experts in the fields of wine and spirit tasting and evaluation, including Master Sommeliers, Masters of Wine, Certified Wine Educators, enologists, wine and spirits writers, professors, beverage directors, and sommeliers.

“We’re incredibly happy to have our Sémillon receive this Platinum Medal at the venerable competition,” says John Rivenburgh, winemaker, and owner of Kerrville Hills Winery. “Our wine was evaluated among thousands of entries from more than 30 countries around the world. This is a great recognition that our wine stands among some of the best on a global stage.”

The Kerrville Hills Winery 2019 Sémillon is a full-bodied white wine with bright lemon vibrancy and opulent apple and pear flavors, finishing with a nutty richness and buttery notes derived from oak aging. Sémillon, the dominant white grape in the Bordeaux region of France, grows particularly well in Texas. The grapes for this wine were grown in the Rustic Spur Vineyards in the Texas Hill Country,

In April 2014 the TEXSOM group purchased one of the largest, most-respected, and longest-running competitions in the United States now known as the TEXSOM International Wine Awards. This year’s TEXSOM IWA award recipients were selected by a panel of 44 judges evaluating 2,390 total entries. Of the entries judged, the judges awarded 1,814 medals: 51 Judges’ Selection medals, 89 Platinum medals, 189 Gold medals, 731 Silver medals, and 805 Bronze medals.
