AVENTURA, FL, November 19, 2020 – Italy’s Zonin family are proud to announce the debut of 100 Nails Ranch, a sophisticated collection of three expertly crafted California wines, vinted and bottled using grapes from California’s finest growing regions and made by master oenologist and veteran winemaker Tom Hinde.

100 Nails Ranch will roll out nationally in January 2021. These wines stand out for their European sensibility in terms of structure and winemaking – low residual sugar, alcohol, and oak in check – matched with impeccable cool-climate California fruit.

The 100 Nails Ranch wines (bottle shots attached) are line-priced at $19, and comprise:

  • 2019 Sonoma County Chardonnay
  • 2019 Central Coast Pinot Noir
  • 2018 Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon

Zonin, the largest privately owned vine-growing and winemaking company in Italy, is no stranger to the U.S. market, thanks to successful brands including Zonin Prosecco, Castello del Poggio (Piedmont), Castello di Albola (Tuscany), Masseria Altemura (Apulia) and Dos Almas (Chile). Zonin also owns Barboursville Vineyards in Virginia.

“We have long wanted to further expand our U.S. footprint with California” notes Shawn Balzano, National Sales Director, 1821 Fine Wine & Spirits. “Our goal was to offer California wines that reflect their respective regions and traditions and give a nod to our European ownership. A true artist, Tom Hinde has delivered in spades! The competitive pricing also enables consumers to enjoy these superb wines on a more regular basis, rather than stashing them away for special occasions.”

100 Nails Ranch Chardonnay 2019, Sonoma County, is a blend of Russian River Valley and Alexander Valley fruit. “I wanted the bright acid and tree fruit notes of Russian River fruit to play off the warmer, more lush, slightly tropical flavors of the Alexander Valley grapes,” says Hinde. Whole-cluster-pressed, the wine was aged nine months in 100% French oak 225-liter barriques. The final wine has a lemon citrus core, and pear and crisp apple, matched with a hint of brioche and toast.

100 Nails Ranch Pinot Noir 2019, Central Coast, balances “broad and rich” eastern-side Santa Maria fruit and “lean and bright” Monterey fruit, says Hinde, and it undergoes the same subtle aging regimen as the Chardonnay. This wine has layered notes of violet, cherry, and raspberry, with a delicate hint of spice and lush tannins.

To complete the trio, Hinde went to Paso Robles, which is establishing a reputation as an address for luxury Cabernet Sauvignons. 100 Nails Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, Paso Robles, exudes layered notes of violet, sage, blueberry, blackberry, and vanilla. The nine-month aging regimen was conducted in 95% French oak and 5% in American oak.

Line-priced at $19.00 SRP
