Redwood Valley, Calif. (August 25, 2020) – Masút Vineyard & Winery, owned by third-generation vintners Ben and Jake Fetzer, has appointed MISA Imports to handle U.S. sales, marketing and distribution. Masút makes wine from the Eagle Peak AVA in Mendocino County, where the Fetzer brothers have a 40-acre vineyard and are the only winery in the appellation. MISA Imports is based in Dallas and already handles U.S. distribution for Rural Wine Company, which is also owned by the Fetzer brothers and was launched in 2019.

“We are excited to expand our relationship with MISA Imports. They are innovative, efficient and principled,” said Jake Fetzer. “Sam Assaad and his team have a unique approach to the wine business that favours both the producer and the consumer. Our family’s vision for great Mendocino wine started in 1958, and we are thrilled to continue into the future with MISA at our side.”

Masút was founded in 2009 and focuses on a single, estate-grown Pinot Noir from the Fetzer brothers’ vineyard in Eagle Peak, a new appellation in Mendocino County that they spearheaded and won TTB approval for in 2014. The vineyard ranges in elevation from 800 to nearly 2,000 feet, which has proven ideal for Pinot Noir and distinguishes the Eagle Peak AVA from other wine regions in Mendocino.

“MISA is very proud to welcome Masút into our portfolio. The harder we work, the luckier we get. We are so excited and honored to have the incredible Fetzer family join us on our journey to great fortune.” – Sam Assaad, Founder of MISA Imports.

MISA Imports Inc. is a global wine and spirits supply chain provider. Founded in 1998 by Sam Assaad, MISA pioneered the beverage industry with its transparent model, innovative solutions and direct sourcing capabilities. With its portfolio rooted in Bordeaux, MISA serves all 50 states, 19 countries, owns warehouses in seven states and imports from 14 countries around the world.

The Masút property was acquired by Bobby Fetzer in 1994, and the brothers worked with their father to plant the vineyard, which Bobby Fetzer envisioned as premier site for Pinot Noir. Ben and Jake founded Masút to honor their father, who passed away suddenly in 2006. The brothers’ grandfather, Barney Fetzer, settled in Mendocino in the 1950s and went on to establish a farming and winemaking legacy with Fetzer Vineyards, which he founded in 1968. The family sold the winery in 1991, but Barney’s son Bobby, who headed up vineyards and grape purchasing, remained in the business. Today, Ben and Jake are the only third-generation members of the Fetzer family who are still in the business of making wine.
