Sonoma, CA, March 24, 2020 – A family of farmers since 1927 and now crafting premium Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, Sangiacomo Wines represented Sonoma County during a winemaker panel at California’s biggest Pinot Noir event; Santa Barbara’s 20th annual World of Pinot Noir – a weekend-long seaside celebration honoring this delicious and illustrious varietal. The family brand’s winemaker, the renowned James MacPhail, participated in the discussion titled, “What’s Altitude Got To Do With It?”, led by Michael Schachner, Spanish and South American Editor at Wine Enthusiast magazine. Exploring wines from the most appealing Pinot Noir regions and the effect of elevation (or lack thereof), the panel included Darryl Brooker of Iconic Wineries of British Columbia (Okanagan Valley), Laura Catena of Domaine Nico (Argentina),Gonzalo Marina of Cono Sur (Chile), Samuel Tottoli of Domaine Kirrenbourg (Alsace) and James MacPhail of Sangiacomo Wines (Sonoma).

Assembling renowned chefs, sommeliers and leading wine scholars from all over the world, the World of Pinot Noir is a weekend of wine knowledge and top-notch tastings, taking place at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara in Santa Barbara, CA. Sangiacomo Wines poured their 2017 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir during the event’s Grand Tasting, a wine honored with a 92 point rating from both Robert Parker Wine Advocate and Wine Enthusiast. In the VIP Lounge, Sangiacomo Wines’ 2017 Roberts Road Vineyard Chardonnay was offered to guests, which was awarded a 93 point rating from Wine Enthusiast, 92 points from Robert Parker Wine Advocate and a Double Gold at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Also poured during the Grand Tasting and available in the event’s Trade & Media Room was fan-favorite of the day, Sangiacomo Wine’s 2017 Roberts Road Vineyard Pinot Noir; a Best of Class winner at San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and a 94 point accolade from Wine Enthusiast.
