Napa Valley, California – February 12, 2018 – Burgess Cellars has promoted winemaker Kelly Woods to Winemaker – General Manager.  Woods has served as head winemaker of this 45-year old family owned estate since 2013.  In her expanded role, she will oversee all department operations and strategically plan to fulfill a long term vision.

Woods joined Burgess Cellars in January 2013 as Winemaker.  Her arrival ushered in a renaissance in winemaking, as the University of California Davis graduate brought innovations to harvest, fermentation and aging protocols.  Immediately her debut vintage released to critical acclaim.  With the addition of the General Manager position, Woods’ role expands beyond wine production and vineyard, to include a focus on hospitality, sales, marketing and administration.  She will improve and streamline operations and communication, grow the brand and also maintain the status of Burgess Cellars as a historical, influential Napa Valley winery.

“When I was hiring the position of winemaker back in 2012, I was trying to find a candidate that would grow into an upper management position once they learned the company,” said owner Steven Burgess.  “Kelly’s wisdom and span of control has steadily grown here, she has truly earned this official promotion.”

Burgess Cellars is distributed nationally and available for tasting at the winery, situated on the western hillside of Howell Mountain.  The winery is located at 1108 Deer Park Road in Deer Park, CA, and is open daily for tasting experiences.
