elizabeth-seguraLake County, CA– Clay Shannon, president and CEO of Shannon Ranches, Lake County’s largest sustainable vineyard management company, has announced the hiring of Elizabeth Segura as Human Resources and Safety Manager, effective immediately.

Born and raised in Fort Bragg, California, Segura is a first generation Mexican-American. The first in her family to go to college, Segura attended Heald College in Santa Rosa, California while also working full-time. She’s been a hard worker since the age of 14, working up to three jobs while attending high school. Throughout her career, she has worked for Nelson Staffing Solutions, Mendocino Coast District Hospital, Mendocino County Office of Education, and Fetzer Vineyards in various roles, including staffing and scheduling, timekeeping management, payroll, health and medical services, safety, human resources, event planning, interpreting and translating.

In her new role, Segura will be responsible for overall guidance, compliance and management of the human resources and safety departments for Shannon Ranches, including implementing, overseeing and enforcing policies and programs.

“Working with Clay Shannon and the entire team at Shannon Ranches is a dream come true,” says Segura. “Clay is a very down-to-earth, genuine person who cares about the people that work for him while at the same time is conscientious about the importance of preserving the land, and therefore applies sustainable practices to protect the land. Being the mother of 4 children, I also feel a strong commitment to preserve the environment for future generations.”

Always eager to learn more, Segura will attend the upcoming AgSafe Annual Conference in Monterey, California, where she will receive a diploma for completing the California Agricultural Safety Certificate course. The Annual AgSafe Conference is the premier worker safety, health, human resources and food safety event for the food and farming industries in California. With sponsorship from Shannon Ranches, Segura recently attended a week long Cal-OSHA Compliance Course and has been attending a Human Resources Management Certification Course at Sonoma State University, with the goal of obtaining her Professional Human Resources Certificate.

Married with 4 children and 3 dogs, Segura lives in Redwood Valley on 3-acres. Family is most important to her, and with 3 acres there was room for a second single-family home on the property, where her sister and her family live. A third unit will be turned into a studio apartment for her parents to stay when they come to visit. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, Mexican music, arts and crafts, gardening, watching movies and playing volleyball.

About Shannon Ranches

Clay Shannon is committed to preserving his land, not only for the great vineyard sites but also for the bear, elk, mountain lions, eagles and other creatures which live there. Of his approximately 1,400 acres, only about 35% have been converted to vineyards. The balance of the land has been preserved for the wildlife which wanders through the property from the expansive wilderness areas adjoining the ranches. The vineyards were carefully planned out, leaving corridors open to migrating animals and protecting sensitive nesting areas.
