Partnering with beloved Napa Valley chef, Elaine Bell, the new epicurean offerings range from carefully curated pairings to casual bites

Krug-WinterFoodWineST. HELENA, Calif., Nov. 17, 2015 – Charles Krug Winery and the Peter Mondavi Sr. family announced today their culinary partnership with Chef Elaine Bell and the launch of two new food and wine experiences available at the winery’s St. Helena tasting room. Beginning immediately, guests to Charles Krug can select the perfect food and wine experience, from a casual epicurean pairing menu to a more ceremonial sit-down setting.

The Cucina Pairing menu, offered in Cucina di Rosa, will feature Italian-inspired specialties such as a Tuscan Meatball Slider with Smoked Mozzarella, Brown Butter Corn Polenta, Stuffed Cremini Mushrooms with Pancetta and Warm Winter Bruschetta with Prosciutto. Each menu item is thoughtfully paired with a Charles Krug Estate wine and available to visitors Saturday and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No reservations are required, and guests will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis.

For those looking to experience a more exclusive culinary affair, the Vintage Select Wine & Food Pairing will invite guests into the winery’s formal library, offering a carefully curated experience featuring a pairing plate with five Estate Family Reserve and Limited Release wines, along with a guided tour of the winery’s historic Redwood Cellar. The Vintage Select Wine & Food Pairing will be available every Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and requires a reservation at least 48 hours in advance.

“In curating these culinary experiences, we looked to our unique history and found inspiration in my grandmother Rosa’s incomparable Italian cooking and our rich portfolio of Estate wines,” said Peter Mondavi Jr., Co-Proprietor of Charles Krug Winery. “We worked closely with Elaine and her team to create a sensational food and wine journey for our guests that can only be found on the legendary grounds of Charles Krug.”

Keeping close to their roots, the new offerings remain a vibrant blend of old and new, featuring Elaine Bell’s authentic California take on old Italian flavors, paired with Charles Krug Estate wines.

“It’s an honor to partner with such an iconic winery in the Napa Valley,” said Elaine Bell, founder of Elaine Bell Catering. “The beautiful new tasting room is the perfect setting to experience our fresh and innovative food with Charles Krug’s award winning wine portfolio.”

About Charles Krug Winery

The Charles Krug Winery, Napa Valley’s oldest winery, was established by Prussian immigrant Charles Krug in 1861. In 1943, Italian immigrants Cesare and Rosa Mondavi purchased the historic property, which remains a family-owned winery producing estate-driven Napa Valley wines.  Built on a foundation of family values, hard work and European winemaking tradition, the winery offers a portfolio of Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style wines. The winery has been owned and operated by the Peter Mondavi Sr. family for four generations. For additional information, please visit https://www.charleskrug.com/.
