She’s been on the job since August and already written several wine articles and broken stories on SFgate and the San Francisco Chronicle, but Esther Mobley is now being formally introduced as the Chronicle’s new wine, beer and spirits writer to the Bay Area wine industry with a series of meet and greet event.
Last night Mobley and the Chronicle team visited Healdsburg and drew a full house at the H2 Hotel, and tonight they’ll bring their presentation to City Winery in Napa. The message they bring is straightforward; the San Francisco Chronicle is a lifestyle influencer with a broad reach, beyond the Bay Area, and they are committed to continuing and expanding their coverage of wine and wine news.
The crowd was naturally curious about how they could get the much desired coverage for their brands, and while Mobley assured that the policies for winery visits and wine submissions would stay essentially the same, she stressed that in her view wine journalism’s primary object is to serve the reader.
