Led by third-generation owner Helen Goelet, the wine is designed for how people gather today
June 9, 2026 (Napa Valley, CA) — Some nights you plan. Most you don’t. Dinner stretches longer than expected. Someone opens another bottle. The music gets better. You stay.

Table Wine was made for those nights.
Created by Clos du Val and led by third-generation owner Helen Goelet, Table Wine starts from a different place – not the cellar, but the table. It’s shaped by cooking, by hosting, and by the simple idea that wine should feel as natural and easy as the moments around it. Table Wine brings a lighter, joy-filled approach to wine, shaped by food, connection, and everyday life.
“I’ve spent a lot of time in kitchens,” said Goelet. “And what stays with you isn’t just the food, it’s the feeling. The people, the energy, the way a night comes together. I wanted us to make a wine that lives in that world.”
The wine itself is a Claret-style blend of Bordeaux varietals, including Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. It’s lighter, lower in alcohol (12.5% ABV), chillable, and designed to be opened without much thought, whether it’s a midweek dinner, a last-minute hang, or something that turns into more than you expected.
Drawing inspiration from the Three Graces featured on Clos du Val’s historic labels, the Table Wine design reimagines the figures unwound in a moment of shared freedom, movement, and joy—capturing the spirit of the wine itself.
“Our grandfather believed that wine should be expressive, joyful, and rooted in the place and people that bring it to life.” said Goelet. “That belief is what brought him from Bordeaux to Napa Valley in the first place. Now, over five decades later, we’re returning to that same thread, through our generation’s lens and lived experiences.” The back label explores that joy, bringing transparency and levity to how it describes itself.
Sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards in California and priced at $30, Table Wine is meant to be part of everyday life, not set apart from it. While distinct from Clos du Val’s estate wines, it reflects the same philosophy that has guided the winery for more than 50 years: balance, restraint, and wines meant to be enjoyed with food and good company.
“We’re not trying to teach people how to drink wine,” Goelet added. “Quite the opposite. It’s about approachability, joy, and connection. Making space for the kind of moments that don’t always have a plan.”
Table Wine launches on June 9th direct-to-consumer, alongside a series of gatherings built around food and shared experiences.
Early moments include cookbook-inspired potlucks and intimate dinners, where guests bring a favorite cookbook, pour freely, and let the night take its own shape. The winery will be hosting a casual music series called “Table Set” with concerts on June 21, July 19 and August 23. Additional events and collaborations will roll out throughout the summer. Event details can be found on the Table Wine site.
