At the 2026 edition of the IWSC, a prestigious British competition, the Bottega winery was awarded a gold medal for its new Cartizze, which scored 95/100.
The IWSC (International Wine & Spirits Competition) is the world’s longest-running wine competition, having assessed wines and spirits for over 50 years.
The Vino dei Poeti Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Cartizze Dry is one of the flagship wines in the Bottega collection. It is made from grapes grown exclusively on the hill of the same name, which covers just 108 hectares – approximately 1 square kilometer – amongst the hamlets of San Pietro di Barbozza, Santo Stefano and Saccol, in the municipality of Valdobbiadene. The unique soil and climate conditions make this wine truly one of a kind within the Conegliano Valdobbiadene region. The microclimate, thanks to the natural barrier of the Pre-Alps, is characterised by cold but not harsh winters and hot but not muggy summers. The steep slopes, typical of this area, allow for excellent sun exposure and help to create marked temperature variations between day and night, thanks to the descent of cool air from the Pre-Alps down the slopes. From an organoleptic point of view, this results in a more complex and elegant bouquet. The poor, shallow soil, formed by the uplift of the seabed and subsequently modified by the action of rivers, consists mainly of marl and sandstone of calcareous and clayey composition, which impart characteristic notes of salinity and minerality to the wine.
In accordance with tradition, Il Vino dei Poeti Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Cartizze is vinified as a dry wine, with a sugar dosage of 22 g/l, allowing its full organoleptic character to be fully appreciated. Its pale, delicate straw-yellow colour is accompanied by a fine, persistent perlage with a dense, consistent head of foam. On the nose, it is characterised by an intense aroma of white fruit, crisp and juicy Golden Delicious apples, apricot and peach, with a delicate floral note of orange blossom and peach blossom. On the palate, it is fruity, sweet and fresh, with a lingering finish.
This wine is excellent as an aperitif, to be enjoyed with soft, creamy cheeses. It pairs beautifully with asparagus risotto creamed with Morlacco cheese and with desserts featuring shortbread and vanilla cream.
The 2026 edition of the IWSC also awarded the Bottega Gold, the Prosecco Gold characterised by its iconic bottle with a golden finish, with a bronze medal.
