December 1, 2025 (Napa Valley, CA) — The Napa Valley Grapegrowers (NVG) today announced that the Oakville Capital Campaign has reached a significant milestone, achieving 75% of total project funding for the Napa Valley Center for Grape Growing and Farmworker Education. This progress is made possible thanks to a visionary gift of $1 million from Andy and Betty Beckstoffer, who join the Foley Family – who provided the lead gift, the Moulds Family, and Trinchero Family Estates at the campaign’s visionary level.
These legacy contributions reinforce the shared industry belief in creating a permanent home dedicated to advancing viticultural excellence, strengthening agricultural stewardship, and expanding educational opportunities for Napa Valley farmworkers and growers.
“This generous gift from Andy and Betty is pivotal, as we’ve now reached 75% of our goal – which is an important milestone,” stated Pete Richmond, President of the Board, Napa Valley Grapegrowers. “The generosity of these four families and the many others who have supported this project represents the very best of our community and brings the Center well within reach.”
Celebrated Napa Valley grower, vintner and NVG founding member Andy Beckstoffer, known for his decades-long commitment to agricultural preservation, viticultural excellence, and farmworker advancement, shared his enthusiasm for the project and its long-term impact on the industry.
“I’m happy to contribute alongside others who understand the importance of preserving the Napa Valley Grapegrowers for generations to come,” says Beckstoffer. “This organization is built to support farmworkers and protect agricultural land, the two most important elements of the region’s success and worldwide recognition. I find it historically fitting that the organization whose aim is to protect agricultural land will sit adjacent to one of Napa Valley’s most famous vineyards, Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard.”
The Napa Valley Center for Grape Growing and Farmworker Education will sit on 2.2 acres in Oakville, including nearly one acre of vines, and will become the first permanent home for the organization. It will feature a demonstration vineyard, hands-on training space, classrooms, and community meeting facilities to support NVG’s year-round work in education, industry research, and advocacy. As NVG celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025, the Center represents a defining investment in the next fifty years of agricultural preservation.
The project honors the legacy of the late Steve Moulds, former NVG President, who championed the acquisition of the Oakville property and envisioned the Center as a foundational investment in the future of Napa Valley agriculture. The Moulds Family’s leadership gift underscores that commitment, helping carry Steve’s vision forward.
“Andy and Betty Beckstoffer, The Foley Family, The Moulds Family, and Trinchero Family Estates are pillars of Napa Valley viticulture,” said Michael Silacci, Opus One Winemaker and Campaign Co-Chair. “Their commitment to this project brings us to the final stretch of fundraising and signals how important this Center is for future generations.”
With major permitting secured in 2024, the project remains on schedule to break ground in summer 2026, as NVG continues its final phase to raise the remaining $3.3 million to complete the project.
NVG invites additional community partners, growers, and supporters to participate in bringing the Center to completion.
