Bryn Mawr Vineyards Celebrates International Tempranillo Day with the Release of the 2021 Tempranillo on Nov 13th

The Willamette Valley winery honors Spain’s noble grape with a distinctly Oregon expression

Salem, OR – November 11, 2025 – Bryn Mawr Vineyards proudly announces the release of its 2021 Tempranillo, a bold and elegant reflection of both Spain’s revered varietal and the windswept slopes of Oregon’s Eola-Amity Hills. In honor of today, International Tempranillo Day, the winery invites enthusiasts to raise a glass to this remarkable grape and its thriving adaptation in the Willamette Valley. Bryn Mawr Vineyards 2021 Tempranillo is now available in the tasting room and online.

Tempranillo may be Spain’s signature red, but at Bryn Mawr—Welsh for “big hill”—it finds a fresh voice in the Pacific Northwest. Planted high on the western crest of the Eola-Amity Hills, Bryn Mawr’s vines are nurtured through organic and regenerative farming practices that enhance soil vitality and vineyard resilience. The 2021 vintage, shaped by a dry, warm growing season, yielded fruit of exceptional concentration and balance, perfect for this robust and expressive varietal.

“Growing Tempranillo in the Willamette Valley is both a challenge and an adventure,” says Rachel Rose, Bryn Mawr’s Winemaker and Vineyard Director. “Each vintage teaches us something new. We use extended élevage to soften the robust tannins of our windblown grapes, honoring and reflecting Spain’s reserva methodology.”

The 2021 Tempranillo bursts with heady dark fruit, rich spice, and layered depth—a wine that mirrors the vineyard’s rugged elegance and the team’s spirit of curiosity and innovation. Crafted with ambient yeast, minimal sulfur, and judicious oak, it’s both a tribute to Old World tradition and a testament to Oregon’s adaptability.
