San Floriano del Collio (Gorizia)- March 21st 2024 – Framed by gentle slopes shaped by centuries of viticulture just a few meters from the border with Slovenia, and with a spectacular scenic view of the splendid town of Gorizia – the future European capital of culture with Nova Gorica -, stands the structure of a former 16th-century hamlet, that the entrepreneur Robert Princic of the Gradis’ciutta winery has brought back to life. Today, Borgo Gradis’ciutta is an accommodation gem in the Collio area reflecting the “organic” soul of the homonymous winery, an example of harmonious coexistence with history and nature thanks to the recovery of the historic 16th-century building and the nature that surrounds it.

Robert Princic’s ambition in restoring Borgo Gradis’ciutta is to consolidate quality hospitality in the Collio, making nine rooms and three apartments available. “Every detail is designed to guarantee visitors an unforgettable stay, among the tranquillity of the organic vineyards that have distinguished the company for generations due to its commitment to sustainability and the production of excellent wines,” says Robert Princic. For wine lovers and for those who intend to spend Easter away from home, the Borgo is offering two nights (for 2 people) with breakfast and a special tasting of “a Ribolla for 4 expressions”. Furthermore, to celebrate Easter Monday, the doors of Borgo Gradis’ciutta will open, and tastings of local wines paired with local products will be offered. You can choose between DOC Collio varieties or labels produced with grapes from the nearby Brda.

In line with the philosophy, the facility is offering experiences that allow one to enjoy a 100% full immersion in nature. Within the walls of Borgo Gradis’ciutta, guests can choose between tastings of the fine local wines, designed to satisfy everyone’s curiosity and interests, and the possibility of actively participating in the life of the vineyard, discovering its secrets also thanks to the educational grape harvest. An exclusive experience allows you to create your own unique version of “Collio Bianco”: Guests can test themselves in creating a personalised version of this wine, assisted by experts in the creative process of wine production, for an unforgettable souvenir of their stay.

Through the “Nature bathing” experience, guests can experience profound relaxation and psychophysical regeneration through direct contact with nature. The first event in this sense is a stroll through the vineyard with the nature education expert, Giulia Terlicher and then back to Borgo Gradis’ciutta for the tasting of 3 wines paired with local cheeses (cost: €20 per person).

A total immersion in the Collio colours, sounds and scents, for a feeling of well-being involving all the senses. Ample time is then dedicated to workshops: at Borgo Gradis’ciutta, the passion for the “melting pot” of culinary cultures becomes the leading player with the cooking workshops. Guests, under the guidance of expert chefs, are invited to explore the richness of local recipes and witness an incredible fusion of Italian, Austrian, Slavic and Mediterranean influences.

The Borgo’s offer also include ceramic workshops, a creative experience that reconnects with the land by learning the art of ceramics. Participants can create unique objects with their own hands, exploring the beauty of art that comes from the simplest materials.
Finally, through selected partnerships, Borgo Gradis’ciutta has organized explorations of the territory: from the Collio hills, to the UNESCO heritage sites of Aquileia and Cividale, up to the twin towns of Gorizia and Nova Gorica. Whether riding a Vespa, on an e-bike, or joining a guided tour, every experience is an opportunity to discover the wonders of this land. A special focus is also reserved to Gradis’ciutta wines, respecting the company’s commitment to organic and eco-sustainability.

“This project – says Robert Princic – is part of a crucial moment for our territory. 2025 will be the year of Gorizia, the European Capital of Culture with Nova Gorica. Gorizia is the gateway to the East, and Collio is its wine-growing territory, a place particularly suitable for hosting delegations and visitors who want to discover a unique territory. Charming new facilities are needed, and Borgo Gradis’ciutta intends to be just that.” So, Borgo Gradis’ciutta is a destination where you can have authentic experiences in a perfect balance of comfort, nature, and sustainability.
