Korbel California Champagne® Toasts 2023 PNC Championship

December 18, 2023, ORLANDO, FL – For the second year in a row, Korbel California Champagne® sponsored the PNC Championship, awarding $5,000 to the winner of the Korbel Closest to the Pin Challenge on Friday, December 15. Winner Bernhard Langer will donate the prize money to the Langer Foundation, a charitable organization he founded. Other Major Champions participating included Tiger Woods, John Daly, Justin Thomas, Matt Kuchar, Lee Trevino, Annika Sorenstam, Nelly Korda, and more.

Held on Hole 12 with a scenic 188-yard par three, Korbel’s Closest to the Pin Challenge invited the Major Champions to compete for the closest to the pin. Bernhard’s winning ball landed within 7’ 8” of the hole followed by Vijay Singh and Nelly Korda.

The father-son duo of Bernhard and his son Jason also won the overall championship played at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club this weekend, making this the fifth win for Langer at the annual family event. Team Langer takes home the top prize of $200,000. Nothing like the other PGA TOUR events on the schedule, the PNC Championship provides the chance to see 20 Major Champions team up with a member of their family and play the game they truly love.

About the PNC Championship

For over 20 years, the PNC Father Son Challenge has provided an opportunity for professional golfers to play competitive golf alongside their kids, showcasing the bonds and memories that are created both inside and outside of the ropes. In 2017, the transition of allowing the game’s younger champions to compete alongside their fathers began. In 2019, we had our first female Major Champion, Annika Sorenstam, play alongside her father for an unforgettable week in golf history. In 2020, the tournament changed its name to the PNC Championship to reflect what the event has evolved into over the years and accurately represent the current field composition and stature. The field has always and will continue to host golf’s most iconic champions.
