PALISADE, COLO – (June 12, 2023) —The Colorado Association for Viticulture & Enology (CAVE), is excited to announce that USA Today 10Best has nominated the Grand Valley for Best Wine Region!
USA Today 10Best is a travel and lifestyle website that provides advice from experts around the world. The Grand Valley has been nominated as part of their Reader’s Choice Awards, where USA Today 10Best’s travel experts will select their top 20 nominees in categories ranging from food & lodging to destinations and things to do. The public is then invited to cast their vote and select the winners in each category.
The Grand Valley is a recognized American Viticulture Area (AVA) and is home to over 35 wineries. The area also produces over 85% of the state’s grapes and has become known as Colorado’s Wine Country. Palisade Colorado is home to Colorado Mountain Winefest, which is the state’s largest wine festival and a premier event in the Grand Valley. Colorado Mountain Winefest has been a sold-out event for the past eight years and was voted Best Wine Festival in the Nation by USA Today 10Best in 2017. In 2018, the Grand Valley was also named one of the Top 10 Wine Getaways by Wine Enthusiast Magazine
“The Grand Valley wine region is like no other in the United States. The winemakers here take risks and try new things, resulting in wines that capture the essence of our region and reflect the adventurous spirit we have. It’s a place where you can taste the true flavors of Colorado in every sip,” said Cassidee Shull, the executive director of the Colorado Association for Viticulture and Enology. “We are thrilled to see that the experts at USA Today 10Best have recognized the Grand Valley as a top wine region. It truly shows what a fantastic job our Colorado wineries and grape growers are doing!”
CAVE is encouraging all interested participants to cast their votes to help the Grand Valley make it to the Top 10 selection. Voting is now open at this link and will end Monday, July 10th at 11:59am EDT. Voters may cast their vote once per day. USA Today 10Best will announce the voting results on Friday, July 21st.
