Calistoga, Napa Valley, April 2023— Kelly Fleming Winery has named Karen McFarland as the winery’s Estate Director. “We are excited to welcome Karen to our small team and know her expertise will be a significant asset in the ongoing success of our winery. She has been a consultant for eight years and we’re delighted to bring her in-house now,” explains Proprietor Kelly Fleming.
McFarland brings extensive expertise in the luxury wine sector from her time working at Fantesca Estate and Terlato Wine Group and other consulting clients. She has directed sales, marketing and operations and run DTC sales including phone and email campaigns and also has been responsible for event and estate management.
She paddles and competes with the He’e Nalu Outrigger Club in San Rafael and has raced all over California, Hawaii, and British Columbia. She also enjoys hiking, cycling, swimming, and pickle ball.
Kelly Fleming Wines is located at 2339 Pickett Road off the Silverado Trail, two miles south of the town of Calistoga. Proprietor Kelly Fleming acquired the 300-acre property in 1998 and began planting vineyards in 1999.
Today 6.48 acres are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon; 4 acres were lost in the Glass Fire and have now been replanted. The vines are vertical-shoot-positioned and cordon-pruned. The vineyard is nestled in Simmons Canyon on slopes that range from 5% to 30%.
Current releases are 2021 Sauvignon Blanc, 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2019 Big Pour Red, as well as library releases of these wines.
Designed by Taylor Lombardo Architects of San Francisco, the 5,000-square-foot stone winery building was completed in 2010. The winery’s first release was the 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon and currently has an annual production of approximately 1,200 cases.
The winery is open for tours and tastings by reservation only, Monday – Saturday.
