August 31st – Each year the PFV nominates one of its members as President to represent the association at events around the world and Pablo Álvarez of Tempos Vega Sicilia has been appointed President of PRIMUM FAMILIAE VINI for the current year July 2022 to June 2023.

The twelve families of the Primum Familiae Vini (PFV) association are Marchesi Antinori, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, Maison Joseph Drouhin, Domaine Clarence Dillon, Egon Müller Scharzhof, Famille Hugel, Champagne Pol Roger, Famille Perrin, Symington Family Estates, Tenuta San Guido, Familia Torres and Tempos Vega Sicilia.

Pablo Álvarez said: “As vintners we have a powerful incentive to care well for our land as in the future it will be our children and grandchildren’s home. Of course, corporations can farm responsibly, and many do, but motivations are different when families are in charge. At PFV, we believe there is something unique about wine that makes it, at its core, a project suited to families —particularly to multi-generational families. Just as my predecessor Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta from Tenuta San Guido did, I will put all my energy into promoting our values and our vision over the coming year.”

About Primum Familiae Vini (PFV):

In 2022, the €100,000 PFV ‘Family is Sustainability’ Prize winner is Brun de Vian-Tiran (Manufacturing Noble Fibres since 1808, 8th Generation, France).
