SONOMA, CA (April 1, 2021) – Bundschu Company, sixth-generation family owned wine company and parent company of California’s oldest family-owned winery, Gundlach Bundschu, welcomes Hernan Valverde as the Southeast Regional Sales Manager. Valverde will be responsible for leading all sales and market activities for the Southeast region, including formulating the overall strategy, developing long term growth goals and managing and developing people.

“Here at Bundschu Company, we pride ourselves on being known for our warm people, cool climate and creative spirit,” says Katie Bundschu, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer of Bundschu Company. “Hernan embodies those values, and we’re thrilled to have him join the team and look forward to growing our portfolio of brands in the Southeast market.”

While honoring the family’s legacy in California wine, the Bundschu Company also looks toward the future. The Bundschu Company acquired the historic and former Valley of the Moon 60-acre property in 2020. The purchase not only reinforced their commitment to the Sonoma Valley region, but also allowed the company to triple its production capacity.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Bundschu Company at such an exciting time in its 163-year-old history,” says Hernan Valverde. “I look forward to sharing the family’s story and portfolio of quality wines in the Southeast region, there is massive opportunity in this market.”

Valverde brings over 18 years of experience to his role at Bundschu Company, in addition to a wealth of key retail relationships and an intimate knowledge in the Southeastern market. Valverde joins Bundschu Company after managing a portfolio of premium wine and spirit brands at Espiritus Group. Previously, Valverde also served as Southeast Sales and Marketing Manager for Hiro Sake LLC., a Japanese alcoholic beverage company, where he was responsible for creating and marketing the brand in the Southeastern market.

Valverde will be based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

About Bundschu Company

Since 1858, the company has embodied the belief that quality wine need not be divided from experience, but that one enhances–and connects–the other. Since then, the multigenerational company has deliberately grown an intentionally small portfolio of wineries and brands that each uniquely embody that spirit, including Gundlach Bundschu, Abbot’s Passage, Towle Wine Company, and Huichica Music Festival. While the Bundschu Company honors the family’s legacy, they quest for the future by cultivating a diverse group of brands and businesses at the intersection of top tier wine and experiences, investing in innovation and sustainable practices, and championing the next generation of diverse leaders.
