Sonoma County Vintners Reveals Sonoma County Barrel Auction Lots for 2021 Virtual Auction

Lots Illustrate the Diversity of Wine Varietals, Distinct Appellations and World-Class Wine Producers

(March 24, 2021) –Sonoma County Vintners reveals the auction lots for the virtual 2021 Sonoma County Barrel Auction, presented by American AgCredit, May 5-7 featuring unique Never Before, Never Again auction lots, and new this year, library wines, and exclusive winery-only wines. The lots offer members of the trade the opportunity to resell exclusive, rare wines to their customers and ultra-premium wine collectors.

“Our Sonoma County Vintners winery members have done an incredible job curating 77 lots for the Sonoma County Barrel Auction,” says Sonoma County Vintners Executive Director Michael Haney. “I am proud to see unbelievable Never Before, Never Again auction lots and excited to see the usually exclusive library and winery only wines available on our auction platform for the first time ever.”

This year Mauritson Wines provides a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire a vertical of magnums from some of the most sought after vineyards in the Rockpile appellation. Ramey Wine Cellars, one of the most renowned Chardonnay producers in the world, lot includes award-winning Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast Chardonnay aged magnums from iconic vineyards. Bidders also have exclusive access to Williams Selyem’s extremely rare Rochioli Riverblock Pinot Noir spanning three decades.

Various wines distinctive of the AVA origin are part of the Never Before, Never Again lots. These lots are crafted exclusively for the Sonoma County Barrel Auction and will never be created again. Capturing the true essence of Alexander Valley, Silver Oak has created a unique 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon with notes of black currant and black cherry with a silky mouthfeel and complex finish that the winning bidder can enjoy now or for years to come. Rombauer Vineyards first single vineyard Chardonnay from their newly named Patriots Vineyard in Carneros is a 20-case lot showcasing a full-bodied Chardonnay with juicy flavors of apple, fig and ripe pear. Sixth generation vintners, Martinelli Winery, are honoring the first generation who established their winery with one-of-a-kind Zinfandel from their estate vineyards in Russian River Valley.

Wines usually only available from the winery to consumers, are now available to members of the trade for this special 2021 Sonoma County Barrel Auction. Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery, a pioneering producer of Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon since 1904, features Sebastiani’s most exclusive critically acclaimed flagship Cherryblock Cabernet Sauvignon, the terroir driven Gravel Bed Cabernet Sauvignon and the unique Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon, all from the unforgettable 2017 vintage. Bob Cabral Wines releases their inaugural vintage of 2017 Cuvee Wildflower Riesling from the Sonoma Coast in two bottle formats. Merry Edwards Winery provides access to three critically-acclaimed vintages, 2016, 2017 and 2018, of their Bucher Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir that display complex aromas of dark berries and floral scents balanced by a savory component, culminating in dark fruit and broad, lush tannins on the palate.
