Napa Valley-Based Gamble Family Vineyards Welcomes Veteran Grape Grower Raymond Reyes as Director of Viticulture and Winery Relations

(January 11, 2021; Oakville, Calif.)—Tom Gamble, owner of Gamble Family Vineyards and one of Napa Valley’s leading sustainable wine producers and regenerative farming advocates, is pleased to announce that veteran grape grower Raymond Reyes has joined the winery as director of viticulture and winery relations. With over 21 years of estate winery and vineyard management experience, Reyes will oversee approximately 175 acres of Gamble’s prime estate vineyards, which span the region’s most respected AVAs —Oakville, Rutherford, Mt. Veeder and Yountville. He will oversee management of Gamble’s vineyards, including re-development and implementation of farming protocols, as well as the careful management of long-term relationships Gamble maintains with some of the valley’s most respected boutique producers.

“We are very excited to welcome Raymond to the Gamble family,” says Tom. “He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in vineyard operations and grower relations, which will support Gamble Family Vineyards’ continued growth for years to come.”

Raymond comes to Gamble Family Vineyards from Joseph Phelps Vineyards. From 2017 to 2020, Raymond drove the winery’s grape sales to new heights, established cutting-edge farm management protocols which increased grape quality and value while fostering relationships with top grape brokers.

Preceding his role at Joseph Phelps, Raymond held positions as director of winegrowing and grape acquisition for Domaine Chandon and Newton Winery from 2010 to 2017, director of grower relations for Gallo Family Wines from 2008 to 2010 and vice president of winegrowing and grape acquisitions for Constellation Wine Brands Icon Estates from 1999 to 2006. He holds a degree in Natural Resource Management from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo.

“I am thrilled to join such an amazing team at Gamble Family Vineyards,” says Raymond. “Tom’s family has been farming in the Napa Valley since 1916, and I value his multi-generational view of sustainable agriculture. Together, we will continue to reinvest in the environment and the people that support it. I am excited to work for an estate that cares so deeply not only about the quality of wine produced, but also the health of the ecosystem, which is where it all starts.”

About Gamble Family Vineyards:

Founded by third-generation farmer Tom Gamble in 2005, Gamble Family Vineyards owns approximately 175 acres of prime estate vineyards from many of Napa’s most respected AVAs—Oakville, Mt. Veeder, Rutherford and Yountville. Its winery and by invitation-only tasting room have a quiet presence, sitting modestly in an isolated nook off Highway 29 in the heart of Napa Valley’s Oakville AVA. Set back from the main road, Gamble’s mission here is to carry on the heritage of farming that his ancestors sowed when they came to Napa as cattle ranchers in 1916. With a primary focus on Bordeaux varietals, including Sauvignon Blanc, all of Gamble Family Vineyards’ wines are produced in small quantities, with careful attention to farming. Winemaker Jim Close has been with Gamble Family Vineyards since its inception.
