Wineries and restaurants across Sonoma County find innovative ways to stay connected with wine lovers near and far with virtual programs, collaborations and philanthropic efforts

Sonoma County VintnersSANTA ROSA, California – May 21, 2020 – Sonoma County’s more than 425 wineries make it one of the top wine destinations in the world, but with its agricultural roots, it should come as no surprise the region is equally known for being a strong foodie destination. A year-round growing season and thousands of local farms providing home-grown products to restaurants, are just some of the reason’s food lovers love northern California.

In Sonoma County, food and wine go hand in hand allowing for many wineries to work in tandem with local restaurants and chefs to create one-of-a-kind culinary experiences. Despite the current challenges facing the hospitality industry, the partners have worked together to support one another and continue the goal of working simultaneously to provide individuals a chance to experience and savor Sonoma County’s wine, love of food and lively spirit from the comfort of their own homes.

Below is a sampling of virtual and philanthropic efforts Sonoma County wineries and restaurants are hosting to support the restaurant community.

Virtual Experiences and Offers

Three Sticks Wines – The winery is hosting, “Three Sticks Together: The Chef Series” which brings some of California’s most renowned chefs together for a weekly webinar series, co-hosted by Three Sticks proprietors on Thursdays at 5:30pm PT. The focus is on mutual commitments to the community and an appreciation for wine and food.

Donelan Family Wines –The winery is offering $15 towards shipping when 6+ bottles are bought or complimentary shipping on 12+ bottles with a 10 percent donation to a local restaurant of the purchaser’s choice.

Gary Farrell Winery and Three Sticks Wines – The wineries have synced up to announce their Sip & Savor Through Sonoma program. Each vineyard has crafted an exclusive virtual experience that includes a pre-shipping package of wines and an interactive personal tasting and tour via Zoom that includes a look into Gary Farrell’s cellar and Three Stick’s historic Adobe tasting room. This unique experience culminates with a special food-pairing segment featuring custom recipes from Chef Charlie Palmer of Dry Creek Kitchen and Chef Armando Navarro of El Dorado Kitchen. With each tasting kit/bottle of Pinot Blanc purchased, Three Sticks Wines will be donating $10 to Sonoma Family Meal, a local non-profit organization.

Charlie Palmer Series – Every Thursday at 1 p.m. PT and 4 p.m. ET Chefs Charlie Palmer and Scott Romano host a live Instagram tutorial series called Pigs & Pinot. The live cooking demo and wine pairing offers a rotating lineup of prominent Sonoma County winemakers. Through this series, 25 percent of all proceeds for wine sales will be donated to support the Charlie Palmer Collective Relief Fund.

Marimar’s Spanish Table – Every Friday, Marimar’s Spanish Table! is hosted at 5 p.m. PT on Facebook Live for some home-style Spanish cooking, featuring recipes from Marimar’s cookbooks. Owner Marimar Torres and daughter Cristina Torres host the event and provide tips and tricks for various recipes each week. All episodes are also posted to Instagram and YouTube.

Philanthropic Offers

Sonoma County Vintners Foundation Emergency Relief Fund – Sonoma County Vintners are aiding the community with two funding components. One of the programs is an emergency relief contribution to support Sonoma County winery and restaurant employees, who are furloughed and in need. The foundation also helps support 80 nonprofit organizations in Sonoma County with community grants that honor flexible spending to ease the impact of Coronavirus.

SingleThread Farms – In partnership with Sonoma Family Meal and Corazon Healdsburg, the Three-Michelin starred SingleThread will be providing dinners for seniors and families in the hospitality, vinicultural and agricultural industries. In addition, SingleThread and local wineries including RAEN WineryDonelan Family Wines and Stuhlmuller Vineyards are offering a Support Sonoma Wine Package that benefits the Our Meal Program with Sonoma Family Meal and Corazon Healdsburg.
