Eden Rift Adds Valliant Wines to Portfolio

Cienega Valley, CA – Eden Rift, under vine since 1849, and located under the shadow of the Galiban Mountain Range in San Benito County, has added Valliant Wines to their core portfolio.

Inspired by the Valliant wine brand, a former wine brand that found its popularity in 1950’s America, the new Valliant wines will echo the pioneering spirit of the original brand, paying tribute to a winemaking style that was more site-specific and less stylized by the hands of man.

Though the core wine program at Eden Rift highlights estate-grown fruit, the Valliant wines will highlight fruit from non-estate vineyards on the Central Coast that possess the virtues of naturally balanced fruit with vibrant acid and a long, cool growing season. The Valliant wines are made by Vigneron, Cory Waller, a native son of Hollister, California and will be line-priced at $32.00 a bottle. They will be in wide distribution in the wholesale market, and also available DtC to the Eden Rift customer base.

The Valliant wines will be available for consumer tastings at the Dickinson House on the Eden Rift estate when it reopens, and will be available widely on-premise under BTG programming, and off-premise with fine wine retailers. “We want to provide our distributors and direct-customers with a dynamic range in quality and pricing,” says owner, Christian Pillsbury.

 “We are allowing fruit sources to dictate the Valliant wines portfolio,” he continues.  “These wines are fresh, bright and ready for immediate drinking. This program is an homage of sorts to this property, which, under different ownership, didn’t always pursue solely estate-driven programs. Our core program, Eden Rift, will always be solely estate-driven. But, with Valliant, we’re tipping a hat to our predecessors who ventured further to find more affordable options for an even wider audience. We favor working with growers who farm mindfully and sustainably, and who grow balanced fruit. We have found growers for chardonnay and pinot noir, as well as cabernet sauvignon (Yountville), petite sirah (San Benito County) and we’re on the look-out for Charbono and old-vine Cabernet Pfeffer. We’re proud to reference Valliant as our second label.”
