HYE, TEXAS (September 27, 2019) – Texas Hill Country-based William Chris Vineyards is pleased to announce that Leah Derton has joined their executive team as senior director of marketing.
Leah brings extensive experience in consumer marketing and advertising for various global brands, most recently having served as the senior brand manager for YETI, where she led brand strategy and communications for the outdoor lifestyle company. Prior to that, she acted as VP of marketing & customer service for a small business that was successfully acquired by YETI in 2017, and before that, Leah held positions with world-class advertising agencies Wieden + Kennedy and GSD&M, creating work for clients, including Target and BMW.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Leah to the team,” said Chris Brundrett, William Chris co-founder and winemaker. “The combination of her experience with storytelling for an incredible brand like YETI along with the time she spent working on the leadership team for a small business makes her the perfect fit for our growing organization.”
In her role as senior director of marketing, Leah will focus on driving brand awareness and loyalty for the William Chris family of wines and scaling marketing efforts to support the company’s plans for growth and expansion.
“I look forward to finding new ways to share the William Chris story with more people,” said Leah. “This is a tremendous opportunity to shed light on the good things happening in the Texas wine industry, and I’m honored to have a chance to do that alongside the wonderful team at William Chris Vineyards.”
Leah holds a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

ABOUT WILLIAM CHRIS VINEYARDS
William Chris Vineyards creates Old World-style Texas-grown wines. Since 2008, winegrowers William “Bill” Blackmon and Chris Brundrett have expanded the estate vineyards and partner with family-owned farms to source only the highest quality fruit. At William Chris, they pride themselves on sharing the genuine taste of Texas terroir while delivering a one-of-a-kind experience. The Old World method integrates farming, tradition, and local culture, and Bill and Chris kept this in mind as they sought out a property to build their winery. Deciding on a farmstead in the historic town of Hye, Texas, William Chris Vineyards’ first tasting room began in the estate’s restored 1905 farmhouse and has grown exponentially since.
