Autumn in a Glass: Discover Gradis’Ciutta Monsvini

A Bordeaux Blend to enjoy the fall season

October 9, 2025 (San Floriano del Collio, Italy) — For over twenty-five years, Gradis’ciutta has embodied oenological excellence in the heart of the Collio hills. Founded and led by Robert Princic, heir to a deep-rooted family tradition in viticulture, the estate unites sustainability, innovation, and respect for the land. With around 50 hectares of organically cultivated vineyards, Gradis’ciutta expresses the authentic essence of Friuli Venezia Giulia, producing wines that reflect both the territory’s identity and the passion of those who care for it.

The estate’s history is deeply connected to the Princic family, who have cultivated these hillsides for generations. Robert’s vision has elevated Gradis’ciutta into a symbol of Collio’s terroir through internationally acclaimed wines.

Among the estate’s most emblematic creations is Monsvini, the flagship Bordeaux blend crafted from the finest MerlotCabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its name, derived from the Latin “Hill of Wine,” recalls the ancient toponym once used for the Gradis’ciutta hill, a symbolic choice that underscores the shared cultural and viticultural heritage of these lands.

The vineyards offer an exceptional terroir where altitude, soil, and climate converge to yield grapes of remarkable character.

Vinification begins with soft pressing, followed by a 15 to 20-day maceration. The wine is then aged in barrique before resting for two years in bottle, a process that enhances its complexity and elegance.

In the glass, Monsvini reveals a ruby-red hue with carmine reflections. The bouquet opens with alluring notes of dark chocolate, violets, and black tea. On the palate, it shows both structure and finesse, with delicate tannins and lingering nuances of ripe berry fruit. Served at 15°C, it is a versatile companion at the table, pairing beautifully with autumnal dishes, from the earthy sweetness of pumpkin to the rich, robust flavors of game.

About Gradis’ciutta
Founded in 1997 by Robert Princic, Gradis’ciutta is one of the most significant wineries in Collio, Friuli Venezia Giulia. With approximately 50 hectares of hillside vineyards in the municipalities of San Floriano del Collio, Gorizia, Capriva del Friuli, and Dolegna del Collio, the winery represents a perfect balance between family tradition, winemaking innovation, and deep respect for the territory.

Guided by a sustainable philosophy and a production vision focused on biodiversity and quality, Gradis’ciutta obtained organic certification in 2018, crowning a long journey of conversion to responsible viticulture. Its wines, produced mainly from native grape varieties such as Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, and Malvasia, but also from international varieties well integrated into the territory, best express the richness and complexity of Ponca, the characteristic soil of Collio.

In addition to wine production, in 2022 the company inaugurated Borgo Gradis’ciutta, an accommodation facility created from the restoration of an ancient 16th-century palace, now a place of hospitality and immersive experiences in nature, art, wine culture, and local identity.

Gradis’ciutta is a family, cultural, and territorial project that looks to the future with deep roots in the land and history of Collio.
