June 19, 2025 — On Monday, 16 June the best wine lists in the world were announced at the Star Wine List of the Year International Final 2025 in Vienna. The awards ceremony, held at the MuseumsQuartier’s Ovalhalle, marked the culmination of a global tour which began in September 2024 and has incorporated 18 regions. The competition’s biggest winner is Norway’s Park Hotel Vossevangen, with Gold Stars also named in Bangkok, Copenhagen, London, New York, Osaka and Oslo.

Mountain resort Park Hotel Vossevangen boasts a longstanding commitment to fine wine and its list, exceeding 7,000 labels, has unsurprisingly garnered international acclaim. After scooping one Gold Star at last year’s Star Wine List of the Year International Final, it has dominated the 2024/’25 competition to secure three global Gold Stars, for Best By the Glass List, Best Long List and the highest honour, of Grand Prix.
There were also Gold Stars for New York’s Chambers and Coqodaq, Dovetale (London), Inddee (Bangkok), Grimal (Copenhagen), Vinland (Oslo) and Chi-Fu (Osaka).
“Reading these great collections cloistered away in cellars across the globe is a timely reminder of wine’s ability to cross cultures and languages,” says judge Stephen Wong MW. “Importantly, these top-tier lists are far from homogenous. In fact, masterful strokes of individuality and expression are on abundant display, and the winners celebrate both the diversity and collective creativity of our community … It was a humbling experience to vote on these masterful lists and it gives me hope for the future of our craft.”
Wong was joined on the jury panel by fellow sommeliers Heidi Mäkinen MW, Toru Takamatsu MS and Valeria Gamper (Best Sommelier of the Americas 2022, ASI), with Mäkinen joining Star Wine List’s Krister Bengtsson and Liora Levi in Vienna, to help present the awards.
Star Wine List is the global restaurant guide for wine lovers; the Star Wine List of the Year competition is a celebration of the world’s best wine lists – and the people who create them. Winners at Star Wine List of the Year receive Gold Stars, with runners up taking Silver. A win in an “international” category in any regional contest means automatic entry into the International Final, a much-anticipated annual event uniting the global sommelier community with a full day of activities and an awards ceremony, giving international colleagues the chance to socialise, raise a glass and celebrate one another’s achievements.
