
Suttons Bay, MICH. (April 8, 2025) – Michigan-based Shady Lane Cellars is taking its wines worldwide with a rare European travel experience next Spring.
Combining the ultimate blend of luxury, culture and fine wine, the estate winery has partnered with Fly Lansing Travel to create its first-ever Tulips & Wine on the Rhine Wine River Cruise. This exclusive voyage allows guests to follow along the Rhine, Main, Danube and Moselle Rivers for a 7-day cruise that includes onboard wine tasting and a wine dinner with Kasey Wierzba, Shady Lane Cellars’ executive winemaker and general manager.

Luke Hershey, sales and Tasting Room manager at Shady Lane Cellars, has been working with Liz Andrews of Fly Lansing Travel for over a year to coordinate this opportunity. The team is working to increase awareness of Shady Lane Cellars’ award-winning wines and sustainable wine-making processes.
“It gives club members and their family and friends the ability to explore a unique area of the world, venture on special excursions and drink fantastic wine – all while building a connection with our winemakers and team,” he said.
Sailing on the brand-new Emerald Luna, guests will be treated to first-class accommodations, innovative amenities—including a heated pool that transforms into a cinema—and gourmet dining at Reflections Restaurant and The Terrace. It includes private onboard wine tastings and a winery dinner featuring Shady Lane Cellars and local European wines.
“April is a peak time to travel to central Europe to experience the tulips in full bloom,” Hershey said.
The itinerary includes stops in Zurich, Freiburg, Strasbourg, Koblenz, Cologne, and Amsterdam. Guests can experience guided city tours, scenic vineyard hikes, visits to world-renowned landmarks like Keukenhof Gardens and excursions to iconic locations such as Heidelberg Castle.
“This is a comfortable and accessible trip for everyone,” said Hershey. “It allows attendees to explore and be as adventurous as they would like during the day, while getting to relax and indulge in food and wine on the ship.”
Hershey will host an informational event at noon on Sunday, April 27 at Shady Lane Cellars, 9580 E. Shady Lane in Suttons Bay, Mich., for those who would like to learn more about the Tulips & Wine on the Rhine River Cruise. All are welcome to attend the presentation and Q&A session, which includes complementary charcuterie followed by live music from 2-5 p.m.
So far, Hershey said, the interest has been great.
“Several club members and an employee have already booked their trips,” Hershey added.
