Family-Owned & Operated Napa Valley Vineyard Adds 2021 Vintages to Collection of Award-Winning Estate-Grown Wines

Calistoga, Calif. – (April 23, 2024) –Kenefick Ranch today announced the release of its two newest vintages, the 2021 Kenefick Ranch Merlot and the 2021 Kenefick Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon, Chris’s Cuvée. These additions to the esteemed Kenefick Ranch portfolio embody the commitment to quality, meticulous vineyard management and handcrafted winemaking techniques that the family-owned and operated winery has perfected over generations.

“This harvest was a great success and we are thrilled to introduce the 2021 vintage of some of our most cherished wines, the Kenefick Ranch Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon,” said Chris Kenefick, CEO and second-generation proprietor of Kenefick Ranch. “The ideal conditions we experienced were characterized by an early spring, a consistently mild-warm growing season, and a light crop load with small, berried clusters.  This resulted in a reasonably early harvest for us. The favorable weather during harvest provided ample hang time for the grapes, resulting in excellent concentration and flavor development during fermentation.”

The 2021 Merlot, composed of 78% Merlot and 22% Petit Verdot, was hand harvested in September of 2021 and barrel aged for 18 months. The wine presents a complex yet intricate aromatic profile, with dried raspberry intertwined with plum notes and floral perfumes. Subtle pie crust toasty notes underlie the fruit, while crème bruleé notes and dark berry preserve provide an excellent middle and finish with every sip.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, Chris’s Cuvée, stands as one of the vineyard’s most esteemed wines to date. Composed of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot and 6% Cabernet Franc, aromatics of cassis, currants, and dark chocolate greet the senses, complemented by underlying notes of fine dark chocolate shavings and hints of cigar box. This rich fruitiness is seamlessly supported by the structure of woven dusty fine tannins, adding depth and dimension to each sip.

Retailing for $50 and $80 respectively, the 2021 Kenefick Ranch Merlot and 2021 Kenefick Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon can be purchased by the bottle or the case on Kenefick Ranch’s website.

About Kenefick Ranch

Kenefick Ranch is a family-owned vineyard located in Calistoga, CA. The vineyard was founded when Dr. Tom Kenefick, a practicing neurosurgeon in San Francisco, first visited – and fell in love with – the Napa Valley. In 1980, he purchased a 250-acre ranch located in the region’s northernmost American Viticultural Area (AVA) – Calistoga, where half the land is planted with grapevines. In 2002, Dr. Kenefick retired from neurosurgery and Kenefick Ranch began producing and selling its own portfolio of award-winning wines. Today, Kenefick Ranch sells its own label, and 90 percent of its grapes to such prestigious labels as Caymus Vineyards, Cade Estate Winery, and Nickel + Nickel. Kenefick Ranch boasts a dynamic wine club, giving oenophiles and novices alike access to an array of benefits including discounts, first notifications of limited releases, invitations to private events, complimentary tastings, vineyard tours, and incentive savings on shipments and anniversary gifts.
