Sacramento, CA; January 21, 2022 – Judges at the 2022 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition awarded Sacramento-based wine company eSt Cru two Double Gold medals for the inaugural vintages of Overt 2019 Willamette Valley Chardonnay and Clothesline 2020 Lodi Roussanne. Three other eSt Cru labels also earned medals at the annual competition billed as “the largest competition of American wines.”
The two Double Gold-winning wines celebrate diverse appellations on the West Coast. Overt 2019 Chardonnay features multilayered flavors of the cool, rainy Willamette Valley in Oregon, which shares aspects of the famed Bordeaux region of France. Clothesline 2020 Roussanne showcases the exceptional quality of white varietals grown in Lodi, California with pleasant floral notes.
“As a new wine company, it is so exciting to see our accolades from the San Francisco Chronicle wine competition,” says eSt Cru winemaker Erica Stancliff. “Getting great feedback from a wide panel of industry peers tells me that eSt Cru is on to something, and I’m so excited to share our wines with everyone.”
eSt Cru’s strong performance at the competition reinforces the company’s mission to create wines using fruit from small-scale vineyards and minimal-intervention winemaking. The company currently sells their wine on the recently-launched website, estcru.co.
