Industry vet will lead sales, distribution initiatives for all of Avennia’s brands
WOODINVILLE, Wash. (Jan. 15, 2020) – Avennia, one of the most acclaimed wineries in Washington State, today announced that it has hired Thomas Woodley as national sales director.
Woodley brings nearly 20 years of wine sales and distribution experience to Avennia. He spent 15 years with Woodward Canyon, where he led national and international distribution initiatives for the renowned Walla Walla winery.
He was vice president of sales when he left Woodward Canyon in 2018, overseeing sales and distribution in 33 states and six countries.
Woodley will lead all domestic and international sales distribution programs for Avennia, said Marty Taucher, the winery’s managing partner.
“Thomas brings a great skill set and extensive industry distribution knowledge to Avennia,” Taucher said. “He will immediately strengthen our ability to more fully support our current distribution partners, extend our reach nationally and amplify the Washington wine story worldwide.”
“I’m honored and humbled to be a part of the Avennia team,” Woodley said. “Chris Peterson is an innovative and exacting winemaker, and the opportunity to carry the torch for Avennia nationally is one I’m thrilled to undertake.”
About Avennia
Avennia is inspired by the Roman name for the city of Avignon, the heart of Old World winemaking. With that in mind, the goal of Avennia is to make wines that evoke clarity: clarity of place, clarity of type, clarity of purpose.
This is best expressed by using the classic French varieties and blends, with methods passed down over generations. Co-founders Marty Taucher and Chris Peterson work within this context to allow Washington vineyards and terroirs to distinguish themselves.
Avennia will introduce two new brands in 2020: Lydian, a value-priced lineup of wines showcasing vineyards from across Washington State, and Liminal, a collection of premium wines produced with fruit sourced solely from the unique WeatherEye Vineyard located on Red Mountain. Since the winery’s first release in 2012, Avennia has received numerous accolades from wine critics and consumers alike. For information about Avennia, please see www.avennia.com.
