Wine for Normal People Celebrates Come Over October: The (More Than) Basics of Wine Tasting

Event Series (See All)

October 8 @ 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm PDT

Ever wonder what people are actually talking about when they call a wine “dry,” “tannic” or “high in acid”? Or how they come up with all those tasting notes?

Whether you’re new to wine or simply want to become a more confident taster, this class will help you understand what’s actually happening in your glass. Elizabeth will walk you through a simple, organized way to taste wine, from structure and aroma to what matters when describing a wine (and what really doesn’t).

By the end, you’ll have a better vocabulary for talking about wine, a clearer understanding of your own palate, and a tasting method you can use with any bottle.

Want to taste along? Pick up these wines before class:

Grüner Veltliner from Austria
Beaujolais-Villages (not Beaujolais Nouveau or standard Beaujolais)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile, preferably from Maipo Valley or Colchagua Valley

Bring your wines, your questions and your curiosity. Elizabeth will take questions live throughout the class.
