The V Foundation for Cancer Research Hosts Krzyzewski Family Cancer Research Symposium Saturday, August 1, 2026

July 1, 2026 (Napa Valley, CA)The V Foundation for Cancer Research is proud to host the Krzyzewski Family Cancer Research Symposium on Saturday, August 1, an opportunity for guests to hear from the brightest minds in cancer research. The symposium, part of the 28th Annual V Foundation for Cancer Research Wine Celebration, brings together top scientists funded by the V Foundation to share their groundbreaking studies, advancements in the cancer research field, and how their work directly impacts patients’ lives.   

Hosted at The Social at The Estate Yountville in Napa Valley, California, the two-hour event begins at 9:30 a.m. PT and is free to the public to attend in person. Sponsored by ESPN and Blackbaud and named in honor of longstanding V Foundation supporters Mickie and Mike “Coach K” Krzyzewski, the symposium includes three innovative cancer research presentations and offers attendees the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with the scientists about the breakthroughs being made in cancer care.The symposium begins with an introduction by Mike Kastan, M.D., Ph.D., V Foundation Scientific Advisory Committee Chair, William and Jane Shingleton Distinguished Professor of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology, Professor of Pediatrics, and Member of Duke Cancer Institute. The event will then move into presentations by three V Foundation grantees: Ami S. Bhatt, M.D., Ph.D., physician scientist at Stanford University; Robert Canter, M.D., surgical oncologist at UC Davis; and Shannon Stott, Ph.D., biomedical engineer at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston University. 

These three researchers are leading laboratories at the forefront of cancer research, and their presentations will span a range of topics. Dr. Bhatt’s work focuses on the relationship between microbes, microorganisms that live inside our bodies, and cancer biology, Dr. Canter studies immune-based treatments for sarcoma and will share his experience in canine comparative oncology, and Dr. Stott will address her research breakthroughs for innovative technology for detecting and monitoring cancer through blood tests.

The event will conclude with a robust live audience Q & A session moderated by the V Foundation’s Chief Scientific Officer, Susanna Greer, Ph.D.

The V Foundation has invested over $37 million across 102 grants in the Bay Area alone, funding exceptional research regionally and nationwide. Bay Area grantees, throughout the entirety of their careers, have been awarded over 390 grants, been connected to 61 clinical trials, and generated over $1.35 billion in cancer research funding. The Wine Celebration is the V Foundation’s longest-running event and a key catalyst of its mission to accelerate Victory Over Cancer and save lives. Overall, the V Foundation has granted over $458 million to the best in cancer research.
