Clos Pegase Winery to Celebrate Grand Opening on June 27

Wine Club Members and VIPs Attend Free as the Restored Napa Valley Monument to Art and Wine Opens Its Doors to the Public

CALISTOGA, CA — Adair Family Wines will host the official grand opening of Clos Pegase, the iconic Napa Valley winery founded in 1984 by art dealers Jan and Mitsuko Shrem, with a daylong public celebration on Saturday, June 27, 2026. Festivities begin at 11 a.m. with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the completion of the estate’s full restoration, followed by an afternoon of tastings and tours. Wine club members and VIP guests attend free of charge, with VIP experiences offered in timed sessions between 1 and 3 p.m. — including a dedicated 3 p.m. session for art curators. The celebration is also open to the public, with general admission tickets available for $75.

Designed by celebrated postmodern architect Michael Graves — selected through a 1984 competition drawing 96 design teams — the estate is one of the valley’s most recognized architectural landmarks, pairing 20,000 square feet of barrel caves, a dramatic Cave Theater, and Mediterranean-inspired grounds with world-class winemaking. The New York Times has called it “a place of pilgrimage.”

When Adair Family Wines acquired Clos Pegase in 2024, a thorough assessment revealed significant deferred maintenance — leaking pipes, damaged walls, and deteriorating floors. Jay and Tammi Adair made the decision to close for a full restoration rather than piecemeal repairs, temporarily relocating wine production to sister property Girard. Working directly with the Michael Graves Architecture firm, the team recovered the building’s original exterior palette and renovated the main tasting room, Founders bar, and courtyard. The estate’s historic fountains are also being revived, including a tribute garden dedicated to Mitsuko Shrem, planted with cherry trees in her memory.

Guests will find expanded seating, a refreshed art program showcasing emerging local artists, and — launching later this year — the 2026 Artist Series, a new wine collection featuring original artwork on each label. “Clos Pegase has always been more than a winery,” said Jay and Tammi Adair. “Our restoration brings it back to the fullness of that original vision, and we are honored to be its stewards for the next chapter.”
