Montefalco (Perugia) Calls Industry Operators: In April, Umbria Becomes a Wine Hub

The Consorzio’s calendar includes events dedicated to the pairing of wine and culture, Vinitaly, and “A Montefalco.” For the first time, a direct link connects the two regional events “A Montefalco” and “Only Wine,” which will collaborate to offer industry operators such as restaurants and wine shops a unique opportunity to taste Umbria during the same period. Among the most anticipated events is the masterclass with Cristina Mercuri, the first Italian Master of Wine.

March 31, 2026 (Montefalco, Perugia – Italy) — Montefalco confirms its leading role in the wine scene with a calendar of initiatives that, in the coming months, will engage industry professionals, press, and enthusiasts through training, promotion, and crossovers with the world of art.

The synergy between the Consorzio and Maggioli Cultura continues and strengthens, with a calendar that brings together wine and artistic heritage. At the Museum of San Francesco, extended until May 3rd, every Saturday at 4:00 PM there will be a visit to the Steve McCurry exhibition, accompanied by “Montefalco in the Glass,” a guided tasting of five local wines (www.consorziomontefalco.it/montefalco-nel-bicchiere-25-26/). Meanwhile, in Spoleto, at Palazzo Collicola, until June 2026, every third Sunday of the month at 5:00 PM, visitors can tour the Modern Art Gallery and enjoy a tasting of Montefalco and Spoleto wines. A project that enhances wine as a cultural expression, in dialogue with contemporary art and the territory.

In April, one of the key events is undoubtedly Vinitaly, where the Consorzio will take center stage in the new Pavilion D dedicated to Umbria, featuring a renewed space designed to foster meetings and relationships with international operators. During the event, it will be possible to arrange B2B meetings reserved for restaurants, wine shops, and importers at the Consorzio’s stand (upon booking request at www.consorziomontefalco.it/vinitaly/). Also for industry professionals, there will be the masterclass “Choosing Montefalco: Sustainability and Identity in the Glass,” led by Simon Staffler, Director of Falstaff Italy, scheduled for Monday, April 13th at 11:00 AM.

For wine industry operators, Umbria presents itself in April as a strategic destination of great interest, thanks to the close scheduling of two major events: “A Montefalco” and “Only Wine,” planned on adjacent dates and designed to offer a comprehensive experience of the region. A concrete opportunity for restaurants, wine shops, and importers to take part in two complementary events and, within just a few days, deepen their knowledge of the diverse expressions of Umbrian wine.

“A Montefalco,” the territory’s preview event reserved for press and industry professionals, offers tastings, in-depth sessions, and direct meetings with producers. It represents a key moment to showcase the uniqueness of the territories of Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG, Montefalco DOC, and Spoleto Trebbiano Spoletino DOC within a highly qualified international context. The program for operators is particularly rich: on April 27th, 28th, and 29th, it will be possible to taste Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG 2022, along with the vintages being released on the market from the denominations protected by the Consorzio, in both a vertical and horizontal tasting journey, at the technical tasting room with dedicated sommelier service.

The program also includes winery initiatives dedicated to operators (https://www.consorziomontefalco.it/iniziative-in-cantina-per-giornalisti-accreditati-ed-operatori-amontefalco-2026/) and, on Monday, April 27th at 6:00 PM at the Town Hall, the highly anticipated masterclass “The Taste of Montefalco: Wines for Every Table, Wines for Every Dish,” led by Cristina Mercuri, the first Italian Master of Wine.

In the preceding days, in Città di Castello, Only Wine – the National Fair of Young Producers and Small Wineries (April 25th–27th) – will take place, featuring a rich program of initiatives (www.onlywinefestival.it). The close timing of the two events allows operators to build a well-rounded experience, dedicating several days to discovering Umbria and participating in two benchmark events that are complementary in terms of target, content, and wine offering. The calendar scheduled between March and April confirms the commitment of the Consorzio Tutela Vini Montefalco to promoting the “Umbria model,” which combines production quality, training, culture, and international openness, strengthening Montefalco’s role as a key destination in the Italian wine landscape.
