A New Chapter for the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges Laurence Danel Appointed New Estate Manager

Laurence Danel, Estate Manager

December 1, 2025 (Burgundy, France) — The Hospices Civils de Beaune and its wine estate, Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges, are pleased to announce the appointment of Laurence Danel as estate manager, effective the 2nd of January 2026, following the retirement of Jean-Marc Moron, after 35 vintages.

A native of northern France, Danel earned her first Burgundy stripes during a harvest at Domaine des Perdrix, a formative experience that led her to pursue oenology from which she graduated in 2003. Her career includes key winemaking roles at Bouchard Père & Fils, Domaine Faiveley, and most recently Domaine Fery, where she cemented her position a Côte de Nuits specialist. Ms. Danel is also a member of the Union des Œnologues de France.

Danel’s arrival marks a new chapter for the Domaine des Hospices de Nuit Saint Georges. Tasked with continuing the strong legacy of Jean-Marc Moron, and with a strong affinity for Pinot Noir, she aims to highlight the full expression of each terroir while upholding the precision that defines the estate’s wines.

Aligned with the values of the Hospices Civils de Beaune, Ms Danel is committed to supporting the estate’s longstanding social mission: wine production funds both the hospital’s projects and charitable initiatives. She also plans to implement and advance environmentally responsible practices across the estate’s vineyards.

About the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges
The Domaine des Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges covers 12.4 hectares, dispersed through the communes of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Premeaux-Prissey, Vosne-Romanée and Gevrey-Chambertin. 19 wines are produced in total, 17 of which are fine red Nuits-Saint-Georges wines. There are nine Premier Crus including the Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru ‘Les Didiers’ monopole appellation. This is complemented by eight village level parcels. The wide range means both the enthusiasts who prefer fine, elegant wines and the collectors who seek more structured, powerful wines are satisfied. The remaining two wines include a well-balanced and fine Gevrey-Chambertin village level wine and one white Nuit-Saint-Georges Premier Cru. This is a very small, boutique production Chardonnay boasting floral and fruity aromas, with more roundness than minerality on the palate.
