With Refosco DOC Friuli and Inaco – Refosco DOC Friuli, Le Monde tells the story of the same Friulian roots through different nuances of character and personality: one more direct and convivial, the other more intense and profound. Both express a territory that continues to speak through wines that are genuine, characterful, and substantial.

November 19, 2025 (Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy) — Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso is one of the most representative varieties of Friuli’s winemaking heritage. An indigenous grape with ancient origins—its earliest recorded mentions date back to the 14th century—it owes its success to its extraordinary ability to adapt to diverse soils and microclimates, from the low plains to the highest hills of Friuli. The clay-rich soil, abundant in microelements and limestone, places the plant under slight stress, forcing it to work harder to feed itself. The result is superior-quality grapes capable of expressing the complexity and strength of the territory at their best. Le Monde’s Refosco vineyards have an average age of about 12 years, with some parcels reaching 25 years, ensuring maturity and aromatic depth. From the winery’s oenological sensitivity emerge two different interpretations of this grape: Refosco DOC Friuli and Inaco – Refosco DOC Friuli, two wines that recount the same Friulian roots through distinct nuances of character and personality.
Le Monde’s Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso shows a deep ruby red color with violet reflections. Intense and enveloping, it releases warm notes of ripe red fruits and spicy fragrances. On the palate, it expresses fullness and coherence, with a dense and silky tannic texture intertwined with vibrant mineral energy. It pairs perfectly with rich, hearty dishes, capable of balancing fatty components and enhancing flavorful first courses such as carbonara or ragù-based pasta dishes. Part of Le Monde’s Le Icone collection, Inaco is a tribute to the father of Alex Maccan, the founder of the winery: an authentic, confident, and grounded man—just like this wine. Aged for 24 months in barrique, it stands out for its deep color with violet highlights that persist over time. On the nose, it reveals a broad aromatic spectrum ranging from currant to blackberry, from moss to pepper, from cinnamon to tobacco. On the palate, it is bold and full, with mature tannins and lively acidity supporting its structure, delivering a long and vigorous sip. A wine of strong character, ideal alongside important dishes such as game, red meats, and slow-cooked beef stews.
A PAIRING THAT TASTES OF FRIULI: BROVADA E MUSET
A dish that encapsulates the soul of Friuli: Brovada e Muset is a winter specialty that brings together rural tradition and bold flavors. Fermented turnips in grape pomace accompany Friulian cotechino, creating a contrast between acidity and softness, often completed with polenta. It is with this traditional Friulian recipe that Le Monde’s Refosco finds an ideal pairing: its vigorous structure and acidity balance the richness of the muset and blend with the fermented notes of the brovada, creating a harmony of authentically Friulian flavors.
With Refosco DOC Friuli and Inaco – Refosco DOC Friuli, Le Monde celebrates the essence of Friuli—two wines that, though born from the same grape variety, express two different souls: one more direct and convivial, the other more intense and profound. Both interpretations convey the voice of a territory through wines that are genuine, characterful, and substantial.
