Autumn lights up with the authentic flavors of the land, between Etruscan tradition and contemporary

October 7, 2025 (Perugia, Italy) — Umbria reaffirms its role as a leading player in Italy’s autumn season with a wine offering that is fresh, innovative, and waiting to be discovered. Umbria Top, the cooperative of Umbrian wineries, presents an itinerary through the most authentic flavors of the region, where winemaking tradition meets the creativity of mixology. From rosés with an elegant character to Umbrian Vermouths and surprising cocktails made exclusively with wine, without the addition of spirits – the green heart of Italy is ready to toast in style.
Umbrian rosé wines represent a refined expression of the territory, made from carefully selected grapes that bring freshness and delicacy to the palate. They are distinguished by a fruity and lively character, perfect for pairing with autumn dishes and convivial moments. The combination of a temperate climate and mineral-rich soils gives these rosés a harmonious balance and an elegant bouquet. They are versatile wines, ideal for those seeking lightness without sacrificing aromatic complexity.
Great attention is also given to the production of Vermouth: wineries such as Antonelli, Briziarelli, and Raina reinterpret this ancient aromatized drink with a regional touch. Umbrian Vermouths are made with a local wine base and spontaneous botanicals from the territory, ideal to enjoy on their own or as a base for natural and sophisticated cocktails. Other local wineries are also developing projects dedicated to Vermouth production, reflecting a growing interest in this winemaking excellence reinterpreted in a local style.
At the heart of Umbria’s autumn offering is the desire to innovate through wine: not only to be tasted, but also to be experienced as a key ingredient in light, aromatic, and sustainable cocktails. Far from the classic high-alcohol drinks, these cocktails are designed to showcase Umbrian native grape varieties, paired with spices, fruit, and Mediterranean aromas.
Among the most representative cocktails:
- Apple & Pink Julep – 100 g of rosé (such as Dievole Rosato, the inspirational model), apple juice, and fresh mint. A balanced and refreshing mix, perfect for aperitivo.
- Vino Tonic – Dry white wine, such as Grechetto, and tonic water in equal parts, served with ice, lime, and rosemary. An Umbrian alternative to the gin and tonic, refreshing and light.
- Spritz with umbrian white wine – With a touch of elderflower, sparkling water, and a squeeze of apple or lemon, this cocktail captures the crisp and refreshing essence of autumn.
- Frosé – Sangiovese rosé lightly frozen and blended with seasonal autumn fruits such as pears and apples, a touch of citrus, and a teaspoon of sugar. An alcoholic sorbet-style drink perfect for crisp autumn evenings.
- Citrus Sangria – Rosso Divertimento IGT 2012 with grapefruit and lemon juice, sugar, and basil leaves. A Mediterranean twist on the traditional sangria, with a distinctly Umbrian character.
- Fresh white wine Mimosa – Sparkling wine or Prosecco with orange juice: autumn brunch and lightness in a single glass.
Inspiration also comes from afar: at Etruscan banquets, wine was enriched with water, honey, and spices, conceptually anticipating modern mixology. This philosophy is reflected in cocktails such as the Umbrian Bellini (wine and peach juice) or citrus reinterpretations with basil and lemon zest.
In this way, Umbria establishes itself as a hub for wine-mixology experimentation, where wine serves as a vehicle for creativity, culture, and conviviality. An offering that combines sustainability, moderation, and taste, introducing a fresh approach to enjoying drinks to Italian autumn tables.
