The First-Generation Winemaker Brings Her Highly Regarded Wines to the Public with First-Ever Tasting Room
October 6, 2025 (Healdsburg, CA) — On Thursday, October 9th, the Healdsburg Square will welcome Martha Stoumen Wines, the first-ever tasting room location from Founder and Winemaker Martha Stoumen since the brand’s inception in 2014. Located in the heart of downtown Healdsburg, the tasting room reflects the core values of Martha Stoumen Wines – nature, community, joy, and thoughtful, living wines. The space is an extension of Martha’s winemaking philosophy, and creates a centralized hub for club members, friends, and locals alike. The new tasting room follows the announcement of Martha Stoumen Wines’ recent inclusion in The Overshine Collective, a collective of six independent wine brands—Overshine Wines, Reeve Wines, BloodRoot Wines, Comunità Wines, Idlewild Wines, and Martha Stoumen Wines—working together to help maintain creative freedom and equity in each business while centralizing and supporting one another on business-related tasks.
“Third spaces are so important,” said Stoumen. “I started this business 11 years ago to bring some of the wine culture I had experienced while working in Italy back to California. The table is where I always feel most human—it’s a place to connect over nourishing food and long conversation, and wine is the carrier. We’re lucky to have such wonderful, loyal customers, and I’m thrilled we can now provide an in-person space for them to come in and enjoy our wines at any time. We want the tasting room to be an extension of our brand, a way to deepen our roots in this community, and a home for those who share our love of wine.”
Growing up in Sonoma County, Stoumen traveled the world winemaking in Italy, France, New Zealand, and Australia, honing her skills in organic and regenerative agriculture and low-intervention winemaking. She moved back to Northern California in 2014 and started Martha Stoumen Wines, taking what she learned abroad to make wine that expresses the diversity of nature in her own home. Stoumen’s selection of wines are centered around organic, dry-farmed, old vine vineyards, and feature a wide spectrum of grape varietals like Colombard, Vermentino, Negroamaro, and Nero d’Avola, as well as historic field blends.
FAN-FAVORITES, SEASONAL SPLASHES & PETITE PROVISIONS
The opening tasting flight and by-the-glass-list will feature six seasonal wines – an example flight includes Vermentino, a white field blend called Solo Act, Nero d’Avola Rosato, Venturi Carignan, Nero d’Avola, and Syrah. Bottle offerings will include the fan-favorite Post Flirtation series, alongside a curated selection of Martha Stoumen staples. Guests will now have the opportunity to taste wines not available in retail and restaurants as well as special splashes from the library, giving them a chance to learn more about Martha Stoumen Wines’ smaller production offerings.
Whether you’re a longtime club member or newly introduced, guests will get a chance to try wines they might have previously been unfamiliar with. Stoumen encourages guests to explore the menu, ask questions, and choose their own adventure.
To complement the wines, the tasting room will soon offer a seasonal and local selection of provisions from Sonoma County producers, specifically from woman-owned brands. Expect sustainably-sourced snacks like artisan cheeses, tinned fish, and freshly-baked bread perfect for sharing with friends.
DOWN-TO-EARTH DESIGN ROOTED IN CALIFORNIA SPIRIT
Inspired by the beauty of Northern California, the design of the space was a collaborative effort between designer Margaret Ruiz of The Strand and Alyssa Julian and Mike Richardson from Martha Stoumen’s team. Thanks to their background in landscaping and general contracting, Martha’s own parents, Morris and Laurie Stoumen, also contributed touches to the design of the space. From DIY curtain rods to California native landscaping, these intimate details add a personal touch to the design of the tasting room.
Featuring locally sourced redwood throughout, moody, dimmable lighting, and vintage ceramics, the tasting room combines the spirit of a European cafe with Martha’s California Natural ethos. With a mix of booths, tables, and cafe-style seating out front, it’s suitable for drinks with friends, intimate date nights, and even family outings. Martha loves that wine shares a story of place, time, and nature, and wanted to carry those elements into the tasting room: regenerative resources like cork and burlap create sound-dampening panels on the walls, and copper table tops will patina over time, telling stories of moments spent in the space.
Moving beyond the playbook of traditional wine tasting rooms in the area, Martha Stoumen Wines’ will be open late, adjusting their hours seasonally. In the future, Stoumen aims for the tasting room to also serve the community—she envisions the space doubling as a place for women entrepreneurs in food and beverage to meet and support one another. Martha Stoumen invites all guests to feel the same ease as they would in their own home and savor the moment no matter the occasion.

ABOUT OVERSHINE COLLECTIVE
The Overshine Collective is redefining what it means to be an independent winery in California. Founded by David Drummond, the Collective brings together six wineries—Overshine Wines, Idlewild Wines, Comunità Wines, Reeve Wines, BloodRoot, and Martha Stoumen Wines— along with their initial founding teams. The Collective is a bold new model designed to keep small wineries independent while giving them the strength of scale. By pooling resources, knowledge, and infrastructure, these winemakers can thrive without compromising their individuality, creativity, or core values. At its heart, the Collective champions sustainability, inclusivity, and accessibility, proving that collaboration can be just as vital to great wine as terroir and craftsmanship.
