The Umbrian Quality Wine District Debuts at Vinitaly.USA in Chicago

September 30, 2025 (Perugia, Italy) — Umbria’s wine sector crosses borders and brings its excellence overseas: the Umbrian Quality Wine District makes its debut at Vinitaly.USA in Chicago with its first international participation, joining one of the most important events in the industry, scheduled for October 5–6 at Navy Pier.

With an exhibition area of over 10,000 square meters overlooking Lake Michigan, Vinitaly.USA is establishing itself as a benchmark platform for the international promotion of Italian wine, offering companies the opportunity to connect with buyers, importers, distributors, and trade professionals from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and other Latin American markets.

It is of strategic importance to be present and work as a team in the U.S. today, given the issues of tariffs and the uncertainty of the sector, in order to support the efforts of the various buyers in one of the main reference markets” said Massimo Sepiacci, President of Umbria Top Wines and of the District. “This first participation of the District is a strong signal: Umbria’s wine scene presents itself united, with the goal of promoting its identity and quality on a strategic international stage such as the U.S.,” emphasized Gioia Bacoccoli, coordinator of the District.

The District—coordinated by Umbria Top Wines, lead partner and promoter of the initiatives—will be present with a space of over 70 square meters, alongside an institutional area hosted by the Umbria Chamber of Commerce and the Umbria Region, featuring the claim “Discover Umbria in all Senses”. The area will offer a “taste” of regional excellence — from truffles to cheeses to chocolate — along with moments dedicated to wine tourism promotion.

Next to it, the wine-focused space will showcase eight member companies of Umbria Top, highlighting the excellence and variety of the region’s quality wines: Decugnano dei Barbi, Fattoria di Monticello, Guerrini, La Veneranda, Lungarotti, Tenuta Bellafonte, Terre Margaritelli, and Tudernum.

Furthermore, thanks once again to the collaboration with the Umbria Chamber of Commerce, producers and representatives of the District will have the opportunity to take part in a guided masterclass-tasting (on October 5 at 4:00 p.m.), lasting 60 minutes and led by an internationally renowned Master Sommelier. During the session, each company will showcase one of its finest wines to a selected audience of at least 40 qualified industry professionals.

The Umbrian Quality Wine District is also presenting itself in Chicago with a new visual identity: a logo designed to embody the values of quality, authenticity, and strong ties to the territory that distinguish Umbrian wine production.

With this first international experience, the District aims to strengthen its presence in foreign markets and consolidate the “Umbria” brand as a synonym for wine excellence—starting with the United States, a key market hub for the entire supply chain.
