Two-Day Live Sale of “The Glorious Cellar of a European Connoisseur” Achieves $3.4 Million

September 29, 2025 (New York, NY) — Christie’s Wine department in America is pleased to announce the results of The Glorious Cellar of a European Connoisseur, a two-day single-owner sale held live at Christie’s Rockefeller Center on 25 and 26 September 2025. Continuing the strong momentum in the U.S. market, the auction achieved nearly $3.5 Million, with 93% sold by lot, underscoring the sustained global demand for rare and exceptional wines.

Adam Bilbey, Christie’s Global Head of Wine & Spirits, commented: “This result demonstrates the enduring strength of the fine wine market and the passion of collectors worldwide. The remarkable provenance and depth of this collection resonated with both established connoisseurs and new buyers, further highlighting Christie’s position as the global leader in single-owner wine sales. This marks the start of a very busy fall season, with six single-owner sales already planned across our global sale sites.”

The top lot of the sale was a magnum of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Romanée-Conti Grand Cru 2005, which realized $68,750. Additional highlights included 12 bottles of Domaine Armand Rousseau, Chambertin 2003 ($32,500), 12 bottles of Prieuré Roch, Clos de Vougeot 1999 ($23,750), and 6 bottles of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Richebourg 2002 ($25,000).

Notable results were also achieved for Champagne, including a magnum of Krug, Clos du Mesnil 1996, which realized $1,875 – more than three times its low estimate – and 12 bottles of Bollinger, La Grande Année 2002, which sold for $5,625, nearly tripling its low estimate.
